The sump split or pulled away from the block?

It was too dark and I was too pissed off to inspect in any depth but it doesn't look to have split the sump just broken the seal between the sump and the bottom end. Gonna try and get it off tonight and see what's what

Really not the sort of thing I need right now tho, its looking increasingly likely I'm gonna have to sell this at some point in the not too distant future to get some thing 'sensible' what ever that means. Fucking hate my life.

Found the problem, the whole sump has buckled from the impact

Just starting plating up the spare sump, could do with the car for the morning so I'm gonna have some pissed off nabours by the end of tonight

Got a date with a tyre remover tomorrow night and then I can get the laqure off the rest of them and get them ready to tidy the lips up on the with them on the car at the weekend weather permitting

A 1.6 16v lathe

harris you could have a 1.6 8v lathe if you buy my mk2 and put your engine in. the torque would be good for lathe work.

Found it pretty difficult to get a decent photo showing the sump damage but here's the best of them

Checking the new sump didn't leak after plating it up, It's one that I had repaired in the past but still leaked a little so I liquid metaled it no such issues now tho. Just glad the misses was out or she would of had even more reason to not talk to me

And new sump fitted

Exhausts blowing again now and the gear selector is hitting it when changing in to higher gears but hoping to get the 4 branch on over the weekend anyway so i'll sort that then

I recently washed a 20v head in the dishwasher, then dried it in the oven.

Mrs was fine with it, just asked if i knew what i was doing and gave me a funny look

you referring to clamps to stop the ARB sliding side to side?

Ie split collars you'd bolt together around the ARB? Could you not weld some washers on either side of the mounting blocks?

Yeah sump seems to be fine mate, tbh not been arsed with this recently due to other stuff going on in normal life, work worries, ongoing family bullshit and lost a mate the other week so kinda lost interest in everything for a bit. Been reading up shit loads over the last few days and see no reason I couldn't boost a 16v on budget. There's a couple of routes I was looking at with the first being afh crank, avy block, new oe bearings, standard 20vt rods rebushed, afh pistons and decomp plate and a turbo. This would be the better set up for performance but that's not really my main goal, I just want filthy noise and the poke to justify it.

So my plan is standard avy bottom end built with new oe bearing, afh pistons, decomp plate and m45 eaton. I'd be aiming for 180bhp, opinions vary on if these bottom ends can take it but there's only one way to find out. There are 16v lupo's running eatons on standard internals with the sort of power I'd like so I don't see it as impossible and I have the spare engine sat in bits doing nothing anyway.

This thread will probably pretty much die off in the coming weeks as I get my chevette sorted cause the polo is coming off the road for a year starting in April when the insurance runs out. Once its off the road I can really get stuck into it and finally do some of the shit I've been having to put off cause its in daily use.

Also massive thanks to saf for going out of his way and dropping me off two 195/40-14's, I now have a full set of decent tyres for the cups, mate your a proper legend
