Well this has been abandoned the lock up for a bit now looking neglected and unloved so went up tonight and fired her up. Also got a list of things to do before gti fest, in no particular order...

Brakes, for some reason they are pretty much on the floor again

Steering, tracking and camber

Coilies, refit rears

Tyres, fit to wheels

Wheels, fit to car and adjust ride height to suit

Interior, Strip out

exhaust, fix blowing and maybe fit 4 branch

Arches, fettle if needed

Probably more but these seem like the important ones right now

Boring and long winded waffle about spacers...

These rh cups are a bit weird in that they centralize on kinda hooks on the outside of the center rather than on the center bore. This means that spacers have to be used no matter what and they have a very specific OD size and either a small or non existent protruding center flange. I worked out that they needed spacing out 10mm all round to clear steering/suspension, rear I'm using a pair of universal spacers that are already on the rear of the polo, for the front I wanted them to he hub centric

So I took a pair of hub centric 10mm Ford spacers into work (they've been knocking about the shed for years and happened to have the right OD), turned off the center flange, drilled in 4x100 holes and by a stroke of look found a random pair of spigot rings that fit perfect. Now the spacer will centralize as it should on the hub and the wheel will centralize off the OD of the spacer

Yeah but then there's no way to center the wheel and the offsets on them are silly high for the width of the wheels, guess its the manufacturer's way off keeping costs down, make the wheels all high offsets then sell them with bolt on spacers to make them the correct offset for what ever car your buying them for. These came with a full set of rh bolt on spacers but they poke too much with them (20 and 25mm)

The 8j are 35 offset and the 7j are 45 without the spacers

do the bolts up in opposites and they should be fine lol. i dont use spigots on the mags!

tempted to get some 20mm spacers for the back of mine. i have some universal 10mm ones but i dont have long enough bolts!

It costs me just over a pound a can, a mate gets it at cost through work :-)

I need to run spacers no matter what due to suspension clearance issues so why go to the hassle of butchering a set of wheels with a angle grinder when I can take a spacer into work and modify that to do the job using proper tooling and measuring equipment? Once those lugs are taken off you can't use a normal spigot anyway as there's no tapper on the center bore of the wheel and we have no tooling at work to put one on some thing so big, so it would be pay some where to do it or bodge it.

I took the the easiest and most effective route, probably the safest too for once

Yeah its still a bargain at £3, the Matt black is as good as halfords £7 cans

I've already modified the suspension quite dramatically bit there's only so much clearance I could get while still running steering arms

Polo show is a negitory I'm afraid Benjamin, big plans are afoot and its gonna need to come off the road for them

If the chevette is on the road and still running I will be taking it

As it is I am still planning on going, probably be the only weekend show I can do this year so I don't wanna miss it

Ah shit, yes I did get your text but I was out and was going to have a dig around when I got back but forgot, I'm am properly shit at remembering shit and replying to texts

I have a fuel rail but only one decent injector, I have a late spec engine loom and what seems like most of the rest of a late spec loom. I have found the ecu but haven't had a chance to look for the matching immob setup yet. I think I a afh dizzy but the hall sender is fried, although I believe these are a generic part?

Nah got rid of the itb's for the charger, kept the omex setup to run with the charger tho

It's at times like this I wish I had a mk3

I could fix your radiator problem mate check mine in my build thread it's a full alloy civic one and it's a lot thinner but same size inlets and outlets 32mm

Good shout on the rad, i'll look into it but I'm also hoping that the eaton will some how fit down the back of the block instead kinda like this

Are you still going for a decomp plate to drop the cr? If so how thick are you going?

I am still going for a decomp plate yeah don't know what size yet will work it out when I get round to that bit mainly focused on roll cage and rear diff fitting ATM lol hopefully get a lot done this weekend with 5 days off so watch my thread for updates I need to find some cheap poly bushes to use to mount the diff though that are biggish if you get me. Any ideas I did buy some escort tca ones for £13 but they are too small really I would have to use like six.

And you may be interested I have a plan for getting hold of / making rose jointed adjustable tcas for around £100 a pair need to makesure it will work first
