No real progress max, I've got that mount think together but it still needs a bit of fettling before I properly weld it up. I've started tidying the dash wiring which was bodged by whoever did the dash conversion, and I've stripped most of the stuff off the engine but that pretty much all I've done tbh

Once that mount is in and I've chopped and rewelded the 4 branch so it fits properly I will be in a position to pull the engine and start on that, its just a case of finding the time and motivation atm. We've just had a baby so when I'm not busy at work, fixing other peoples cars to earn extra cash or trying to do my bit as a daddy, I'm generally too fucked to be arsed to get stuck into doing anything

Ah great news on the baby, little boy or girl? I forgot to ask sorry, been really busy etc

Well, there's no rush, as with mine its finding the time at the moment, have a breadvan and jetta to sort out before i can break the coupes back!

It's not in the door card Eric, its in the handle, this haz mac3 interiurz

Cheers haggis

Didnt know it had mk3 interior! Didnt look inside it at springfest haha.

Whip the dremel out and get a set offered up son! I'm sure you can work it out

I drove it and didn't even notice it had a mk3 interior lmao

Been working on the engine mount again today, other than a bit of trimming it's pretty much done and the next job will be to get it welded in

And how it will look in the car

That looks neat mate.

You coming GTi?

Looking good guy. Nice to see you can still progress with the new arrival etc! Keep it up

thats to neat a job for you guy - whos done that?

:-p

Oh :doubt:

Looks crap

Progress, progress progess???!!

how high does the box sit in comparison to the suspension top mount bit Guy so i can get a rough idea for when dooing mine

:finger::lol:

no idea pete, i'm looking to trim some more off the box to lower it some more because as it is i would have to space the mount away from the mounting point on the side of the engine

as you can see in this pic...

IMAG2023.jpg

i'm happy to weld some spacers to that mount to fill the gap some but the shorter the bolts i can use to bolt the mount to the engine the better really. so until i'm happy with that i have no idea on the height as it will more than likely change, i will let you know once i'm happy with it tho

no progress max, this is the consequences of trying to balance work, family and earning a little extra working on other peoples cars. i came straight back from work today and made a rear section of exhaust for a mates polo, but its all cash towards mine so i can't complain

G-lader blocks fitted

IMAG2053.jpg

the new mounting point is tacked in place and will be finished off when the engines out and i have more space to work in, the mount has also been modded to suit too

IMAG2062.jpg

first parts for the engine build have arrived (piston rings), will get the rest once the engine is stripped and i know which bearings i'll be using from which engines

IMAG2063.jpg

Good stuff mate! Mount should look pretty standard tbh which is nice :)

Nice one dude!

How much the rings set you back?

  • Author

Cheers lads 8-)

Rings were about £60 delivered (might of worked out to £62 or something)

So cheap!

Paid double that for my ABD/3F rings. You getting new shells?

Coming to GTi then? In what?

  • Author

Pete said they were double that at vw, I got mine off eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251145881475?ssP...984.m1423.l2649

Will be getting new shells too but not sure which big end i'll be using until I can mock it all up and do some measuring. Probably going to be a bit of a mix and match (thinking g60 big end and avy main). Gonna be rebuilding the whole lump

Hopefully a polo :ninja:

i may come upto gti in the clio then if you are going Guy so i can see everyone reckon they will let me on the clubstand in my clio so i can park up wIth everyone

il stick a vw badge on it
