Any more news on this buddy? The mount looks great?

Are you looking to mount the charger to the rear or the front of the block?

You may have already said but I cant be arsed to read through it all again.

Cheers buddy 8-)

Test fitted one of the G60 rods and no dramas were apparent, I was a little worried that the piston may catch the oil squirters but all seems fine

Found some 195/40-14's at a decent price so snatched a couple of them up for the rears so no more arse up stance. Also ordered my AFR/boost gauge and a few cosmetic odds and sods

Yes man looking good any pics from underneath the piston and block I wouldn't mind seeing what the oil squirters look like and glad your getting some progress done

What AFR gauge/boost gauge you got

  • Author

I'll get some pics when I get the rest of the rods out mate, and this is the gauge I've gone for http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AEM-FAILSAFE-AFR...=item1c28d88165

Chopped down the oil pick up to take the mk2 sump

Nice work son

Good shit guy, if you ever need a hand give us a shout

What are the oil squirters from Guy? They're not standard on that block are they?

  • Author

Cheers lads and cheers for the offer Nicolas

Yes they are standard on this block si

Aw that's pretty awesome then. Those G60 rods have worked out well, any idea when you'll be done?

  • Author

should be built up pretty quickly really, hopefully taking the block to jonspeed to get the head bolt holes opened up to take the bigger AFH bolts and i'll probably get the head skimmed there at the same time, then it should just be a case of rebuilding it. just need to go over my list of rebuild bits and get them ordered this week. probably be a fair while till the car is back on the road tho, aiming for the start of show season but we shall see

a comparison shot of the AVY rods vs the G60 rods

couple of pics of the oil squirter's for pete, the one from underneath is shocking but it was the best i could do with the crank in the way

Cheers Guy for the photos. I wonder if these jets can be retrofitted into other engine. Are you using the AVY oil pump then, just with a shorter pip? And did you have to get your rods re-treated (shot peened for example) after machining them?

thats pictures great Guy i was just curious tbh as i hadnt really seen them and i need to get my arse in gear on the engine front now

but i should hopefully be picking up my new wastegate from the post office tomoz then i can get the turbo exhaust housing mod finished and then to rebuild the engine again lol hopefully for the final time

also what sort of boost you looking to run just wanna see what everyone is planning I've asked Harris so far

  • Author

rods haven't been retreated, the parts that have been surface ground are parts that were ground after treatment in the factory so i'd imagine it should be all gravy

as for the squirter's i guess its more of a question of if the other block could have them retro fitted. the squirter's themselves are just little pipes that seem to be tapped in to an oil way

Edited by Mclovin

should be ok then.

So they are just tapped into a galley? I'll see if anything can be done. Are the AVY and other small blocks practically the same, as a man who's seen a few

what ever the pulleys i have give me pete

the crank is 130mm and the charger is 65mm so its a 2:1 ratio, still gotta do some digging to see what that should give me but 8-10psi would be good as a start i think, can't see me being too far off tbh

just did a bit of reading and it looks like i should be getting about 7.5psi with my setup which is a good starting point while i try and prove the engine. if all goes well a 16% reduction pulley should give about 10psi at at around 7k. jonspeed make eaton reduction pulleys so i'll have a chat to them while i'm down there.

looks that way si, i've never compare that part of the avy block to others blocks tho so couldn't really comment on that. i'll get better pics as i strip it down further

Cheers. That's be a great . Looking forward to seeing this done

This is exciting stuff!

Ahh, you went for the fail safe one. How you gonna use the "failsafe" capability?

Also, how much the tyres set you back?

Used my AME wideband for a while, really nice piece of kit! , much better than innovate IMO

Thanks Guy, good stuff

You planning on going low with those tyres?

  • Author

Probably gonna cut power to the ecu but you can use it to cut/power pretty much anything you like. Here's a demonstration video for it

Yes si, I have the on the front already but could only get two at the time so had to make do with 45's on the rear and never like the arse up look so i'll be able to drop the arse to suit the front now

mate. those tyres are AWESOME! thats what i had on my ratty old mk2. so much grip!
