Driving a 6n2 1.0 currently with no mods, about to reach 1yr NCB so the insurance has dropped a bit now, I'm hoping to drop the car onto coilovers, new wheels, GTI/HID headlights and maybe a few other subtle mods. Just wondering who everyone is with(that declares mods!).

I'm with directline at the moment, so if anyone has any ideas on insurance increases please just write up your age/car/insurer.

Think you'll need to change insurance as directline won't insure mods if you're under 25 iirc?

I'm 18 with 1 year NCB and pay £939 fully comp with admiral on a 1.0 6n, alloys and coilovers declared.

I've had them declared since I passed my test so was about an extra £200 last year for the mods I think, it's come down a lot though, as last year with 0 NCB I was paying £1600 TPFT for exactly the same car and mods.

I'm comming on 23 this year and i haven't declared any of my mods, & dont intend to not yet anyways. Insurance is a joke anyways it seems to be if you mod yr car we are going to fuck you over with the price of insurance... However if you go out and but a fast car all standard you can have a reasonable quote. I used to have an Audi A3 2.0 fsi quattro it was 3 years old when i had it and the insurance with 5 points on my licence was £1250 for the year. I sold it as i was averaging 23mpg and was doing 25k miles per year. I bought an Audi A2 straight after a little 1.4tdi with 70bhp and direct line told me it was £997 for a year ... How does that work i wasnt pleased

After half an hour on the phone i got it down to £700 but thats still rediculous! and now this year i have the 1.4tdi dune which is F##cking slow! and they are charging me more than the A2 :s
