Will spigot rings sort my problem?

Featured Replies

I'm using universal spacers on my 6n so the wheel doesn't touch the coils but now there's nothing for the wheel to sit on, I've heard about spigot rings and I wondered if they will giv me a sort of platform for the wheels to sit on? I'm desperate someone plz help lol

Thanks mate, I'm just tryin to get my head round it, so universal spacers + spigot rings will do the same kinda job as hubcentric spacers?

No not in the slightest, spigot rings won't help your situation at all.

You need hubcentric spacers really. You should be able to get away without using them so long as you can ensure the wheel is properly central, and you do the bolts up evenly to the correct torque.

However, hubcentrics will be best.

O ryt thanks mate, I'm just a bit confused like, so spigot rings won't giv the wheel nothin to sit on? Plus my wheels are lupo gti wheels so the bore would b the same meaning I don't need spigot rings?

You don't *need* anything else (as long as the bolt holes are tapered), but hubcentric spacers would make fitting easier.

Spigot rings would only give the spacers something to sit on which probably wouldn't help that much.

Universal spacers on their own are perfectly safe (as long as the wheels' bolt holes are tapered and you use appropriately longer bolts), and as long as you tighten opposite bolts and in stages up to the specified torque. They're just hard to fit as you've got to support the wheel and the spacer while you get the bolts started.
