Ferodo DS2500's and Goodridge all Stainless Steel brake pipes

I've also refurbished the VWII callipers that I'll be fitting these weekend.

Got the car in the air to fit the new callipers and braided pipes...

...And then started swearing due to the fact that I was just rounding off the nuts..

So dropped car back down and I booked it into the garage for them do mess with! :)

Got the boot out ready for it to be all fitted

Fitted the catch and the opener

Removed the wiring from the current boot

as you can tell this boot is rather shot!

dropped the head-liner to get to the bolts holding the boot on

and then do exactly the same but in reverse

one boot fitted!!

I wasn't no as there is no real need as the brakes are the same just wider callipers to allow for the vented discs..

picked this up from the Polo Show thanks Pete and Sam for bringing it!!

Also had the car on the dyno and it made a good 62.7bhp. That's as standard, unserviced and with the cat.. so can't complain!!

Yeah it is.. I was rather impressed. So take the cat out, but a GT cam in it and give it a service I can't see why it shouldn't make 70bhp :)

Picked these up this week

Mine had started to rust in the bottom corner.

Went to Blyton Park yesterday for the Club Polo Track Day

to be honest I was the slowest car there however it wasn't as slow as I thought it was going to be and it just ate up track time. I'm well impressed with the car!!

70hp should be easily attainable with the cam and de-cat.

Cheers guys.. It went so well on the track I was surprised. It just took the abuse lap after lap after lap. I think people forget that if you want a reliable track day car then it might be best to leave the engine standard.....

So saying that.... I going to start building my non-standard engine for it!! :-D

ABD bottom End

GT head - ported and polished

Newman 264 cam

NZ ignition

CBR 600 bike carb for fuelling.

Full SS exhaust system

Can anyone answer if the NZ dizzy would work/time up ok with the GH head and Cam?

What paint did you use on the calipers mark??

And i don't suppose you have a spare head from all these engines do you? Need a 1.3/1.4 head badly!

Yeah the ABD one should be spare but its still on the engine. And I really don't know what condition its in.. but it looks ok :)

The cars coming along nicely mark, the paintwork is starting to come together, btw I fitted the shocks and springs you sold me finally pulled my finger out!

Yeah.. I guess it would be about £10... But I'll have to get it weighed and priced up for you. I'll try and sort it out the weekend.

With the exception of the valve springs and cam, the ABD and 3F cylinder heads are essentially the same...

Part numbers of the two heads I had we're the same, but with a different letter suffix.

Don't expect it to rev like an AFH, mine with headwork, 10:1 cr and a reprofiled cam made all it's torque around 4-5k, bike carbs will poke that up a little but with the ABD being under square and the AFH oversquare, it'll be never make the singing performance of the valver. The 85bhp and 92lbft mine made was very nice road friendly power though. I look forward to seeing what you make of it.

Yeah the only reason that I was going to use the GT head is that its been ported and polished..

It will be interesting to see the difference not just in power but also in character of the engine...

yep thats right I now have 5 engines in the garage. I picked this up from Rich (JregGT)

a fully built ABD/3F hybrid with a P&P head, GT Gearbox and lots of lovely new parts

One reason I got this is that the I wasn't 100% sure on the ABD bottom end as it looked like this

The last think I wanted was to build it all up and then find out it was buggered also I just don't have the time to strip the bottom end all down and replace parts..

So this week I'll be putting my cam in and also attaching the carbs. Hopefully I can have it all fitted this month some time :)

I also tested my local VW garage for some LHD parts.. managed to pick up a LHD clutch cable :)

Started to put together the bits for the ABD/3F engine

took the inlet manifold off

Then the clutch and flywheel

so i could fit my new lightened & balanced flywheel

fitted the alternator..

Can Anyone tell me what I am missing from the back of it?
