Need help... otherwise i can no longer drive

Featured Replies

WARNING!!! this is probably topic No. 24579 on car insurance...

However

I'm due to renew my car insurance at the end of this month...

I drive a VW Polo Mk3 1.3 Genesis

I'm 19 and been driving for a year and 2 months

I've had two accidents in a previous car however they happened in March of 2010, so exactly a year from today..

I've had no convictions and both the accidents were not write offs and one was tiny (i cracked my next door neighbours bumper)

I'm finding it ridiculously hard to find even remotely cheap insurance...

I'm hoping there is some insurance god out there who can help me get it for cheaper...

would it help messing with the options like...

I work but am a full time student.. so would it be cheaper to not mention the work bit ?

and etc etc etc...

*rant* i find it ridiculous how much insurance is these days for young people cos i mean we are at risk but charging us 3 times the amount our car is actually worth is complete extortion!!!!

The fact 70-80 year olds even get insurance is a bit crazy.. one old lady write four cars off down my road the other day :(

BACK TO THE POINT...

Any pointers on how i could get insurance cheaper ????

Many Thanks

8-)

Need a bit more info, is the car modified?

Were the accidents your fault?

If it's modified, go with a modified specialist like Adrian Flux.

If it's not, the admiral group are pretty good with young drivers, i.e Admiral, Bell, Elephant.

Adding your rents as named drivers brings the premium down a fair amount.

Don't bother using price comparison sites as they won't give you a good quote.

Hope that gives you a little start...

Okay yes.. the car has been modified.. soo i will be declaring the mods.. do you getting a better deal with adrian flux for declaring mods ???

I was at fault sadly but like i said they werent big incidents not that the insurance companies care..

I've come to realise that price comparison sites are completely useless.. i may just spend all day looking about :)

yer I'm hoping to jump on my mums insurance to see what the quote is like..

thanks for your help bud

Elephant are brilliant for insurance my brothers written off 2 cars and his is £1200 fully comp.

I'm with them, 1.4 astra fully compy £287 4 yrs No claims though!

Just be as honest as you can with insurance as if you're not and you get found out then your insurance is void.

As mentioned above parents as named drivers is also a good thing to do, got my boyfriend on mine as he brings the cost down lots.

if your cars modded declare it as standard

secondly if your put you do loads of miles it will go up as your driving more so put it at 2-4000 miles a year

i did over 10,000 in 6 months and I'm done to do 4000 they aint guna come check

depends on area you live in

so garage kept overnight and an alarm puts it down

its all well lieing bout it all but seems uve already had 2 crashes weather there small or not youve of bin through insurance prob not a good idea to lie through your teeth ecspacialy with mods

if its reli that bad get a moped for a year or summin

^^If you listen to that advice you're as much of a tool as the knob end who posted it.

i did over 10,000 in 6 months and I'm done to do 4000 they aint guna come check until you crash, and then you're gonna get bummed for no insurance.

Ring round all the insurance companies in the Yellow Pages ... make them fight for your business, thats what I used to do back when I was your age

If the car has any mod's to it .... put it back to standard

Maybe sell all your mods, therefore get cheaper insurance and get money from mods...

If you really did just crack you are neighbours bumper, did you not offer to settle it with you are neighbour?

and phone around, its cheaper

I'm pretty sure you're allowed to go over your stated mileage as circumstances can change over the course of a year.

They just charge you a larger excess if you have an accident.
