If you want to know if your car has previously been clocked or your buying a car that sounds a little too good to be true here is a little tip that could save you buying a bag of spanners!

UK Government MOT Website

Go to the government website above and enter a past MOT number or if you want to see all past MOT's then enter the document number on the front of your v5 document and all past MOT's will appear, including mileage, failures, warnings and dates that the MOTs were done.

This can become quite handy for numerous reasons, as some of you are aware there are places that you can get false mot cers from at a small price. These are worthless bits of paper & you are unknowingly running around without an MOT.

Also you can see the common faults that occur year after year e.g. ARB drop links. these come up every year on my Audi A2 and I am quite aware that they will come up every year on my Polo as t has the same ARB system.

I was also rather pissed off as you can imaging when i found out that my A2 has had over 50,000 miles rolled off the clock.

I hope this helps some one out there its amazing what history it brings up!

Note: If you are going to clock your car dont take off more miles than you have done in the year! Other wise some one can find out and you could be prosecuted for selling a car under false pretenses, and nobody wants that now!

Hi there quick question probly me being thick but hpw can you check your odometer for history of rolling back? This source only allows the latest reading so it may have been rolled previously??? Mot certificates are iffy with missing intervals,

you can check your old mot you enter your v5c number & your reg rather than an mot cert number.

As far as rolling back miles ill post some thing up here which will prove the rolling back miles thing.... ill take a screen print of my old audi a2. Its had atleast 30,000 rolled off it

Snap i bought a polo 9n with 16,000 i do 24k a year but mine will have 20k when it goes for its mot ...... Not illegal aslong as you dont forget to tell the next owner.

My vauxhall vectra had that... no advisories at all... which matches its MOT history I have.. so maybe yours has never had any advisories :-)
