I decided that climbing into the boot every time the 20v needs fuel (ALOT) isn't very practical, so I went scrappying and come back with a solenoid and a nice pretty switch :) which is from a mk4 golf, it's perfect. Nice and big overhang so it's easy to fit and also red illumination, so it matches the rest of my interior.

Anyways, here's a video after i'd played about and got it all working.

Just got to transfer it all into the car now! :)

I did fit the switch into the car, but no pics yet.

Going to fit it to my matt black flap tho, chrome one's not going on till after my mate micky's painted the car.

the solenoid and spring on the fuel flap is proper TT gear, guess that must be how they are on the TT too!

id like to shoot things off that

my car uses a solenoid that look identical to that off a passat to pop the boot...the flap is spring loaded so thats why it pops so hard...all that the solenoid is doing is pulling the latch open. nice work!

ben, maybe your mum's flap is older and therefore more hammered/well used, hence it'll not have the tension that a more youthful flap would.
