Caps came out MINT :) they were full of caked on paint and powder coat, so much so that you could barely see that they were porsche anymore!

Here's how the comps look finished :)

Cheers bud... so... tonight after I finished work, I fitted my new temporary bonnet.

and set about work on the original, firstly stripping it of all fixtures and fittings, then preparing it for welding and smoothing.

Dents sorted and a light skim later... it'll be done tomorrow hopefully!

i think this looks so much better with the temp bonnet! that bit of extra smoothness has done it good!

Managed to get the under-side of the bonnet done yesterday, just the top to do today... that's blocked down and ready for paint though :) quite pleased with the results!

Bonnet is back on the car and flatted back, ready to be machine polished with g3 at the weekend :)

Nice mate where did you buy your studs from and you just use loctite on then i guess.

  • Author

Just the stud kit off ebay, I used loctite too.

Incase anyone doesn't know how to install them, you basically get the stud, put 2 nuts on one and tighten them up to each other at the end of the stud. The nuts then lock together and in effect you have a bolt. Make sure you use plenty of loctite on the end that's going in the hub and use the spanner on the locked off nut to screw them right in. Once they're right in, free off the nuts and you're done.

I did the camber last night and the stud kit made fitting/removing the wheels a much easier task! especially if you're using universal 3/5/10mm non hubcentric spacers.

so what where these chemicals in the acid bath mate? I've got a few bits that need doing you see :-)

 LOL come on, pm me if you dont want to disclose :D

Ben, I'm not being responsible for your severe burns... maybe if you were a bit more competent at being a dangerous bastard, then I could disclose... lol.

Haha i wouldnt trust polomon with anything let alone an acid bath! Also what size studs did you get? 40mm?80mm?

I got 80mm and then cut them down to about 60mm, better to have too many threads than not enough!

There we go, see won't need my bonnet anymore :p

Put a Bailey's fully atmospheric BOV on it, it's holding boost alot better now and just generally runs nicer! Plus it sounds MINT.

well as some of you may be aware, i've been after a set of morette/hofele headlights for the beast... however, sourcing a set was proving difficult, but I managed to get some :) although I did have to buy the whole other car to get my hands on them, lmao.

Meet headlight donor polo, 1.4 16v, all the extras, front fogs, hella spoiler... you get the idea.

T&T til Feb too, shame to send it to the crusher really as it's a dead straight car.
