When i bought my golf, it had limited history. Just a couple of old MOTs and a DVLA check going back to 2006.

I didn't think much of it until today when i saw one of the websites posted a couple of topics down claiming to show all previous mot information. I tried it, but could only get one mot at a time. So i looked at the DVLA check i got with the car and noticed it used to be on a strange number plate: PIA97. this got changed in early 2009, which coincides with the date of my earliest MOT certificate. I know most people wouldn't give two hoots but i'm quite intrigued now, so how much can i find out about my car and how would i go about doing it? maybe someone knows it? It was advertised in Golf+ a while back which seems strange for a standard 1.6 golf owned by a 'Ms Brenda Coates' of London.

Did you try putting the V5 document number on instead of the MOT number?

That allows you to see ALL the previous MOT's. Might be worth trying that :)

if you have the mot certificate you can trace the mot history back to around 2005 which will include mileage, mot fails and what it failed on and any advisories issued.

the v5 document number alone only allows you to access the current mot, you need the certificate number to go back through the history.

Like i posted before if you enter your document number on your v5 (logbook) this number is roughly half way down and to the right hand side. This will bring up all past mot's that have been genuinley done. From here you will be able to see when it failed the mileage on the car when the mot was done ect. I will post a tutorial next weekend for any one who is interested.

I did this and it only gave me details of the previous MOT.

EDIT: My mistake, I was using the "status check" page rather than the "MOT History".

Go down to where it says MOT history check

Then enter your registration number and V5 and you can see your veicles previous mots

my old mk2 bready wore the plate "DB3000" for about 12 years its just a private plate geezer.
