£10 gets you 90 odd miles?! Are you sure?!

yea its awsome on fuel

I think youre telling porkies mate.

Done a bit of maths, and with petrol at 129.9 per litre, youre claiming at least 53 mpg.

On its best run, a 1.4 mk3 was struggling to achieve 49 mpg FROM NEW!

Driving around town, 35 mpg was the figure from new.

Unless of course youre paying 10p a litre less than everyone else that is.

My mk3 1.4, with careful driving gets about 70 miles to a tenner with town and bypass driving. But only with sensible driving.

Just dont want people being misled.

excuse me ,

i just done 65 miles to £10 on my golf gti

yes you can get 80-90 miles on a tenner in my golf 1.4

we all dont drive like complete chavs , and on here we are all not 17yrs old with a lead foot I'm nearly 30 and drive like a old git , which i quite happily admit

dont call me a lier on my forsale thred unless you have solid proof !!!!

enough said

Its 80- 90 miles now is it? Not "90 miles if not more" as you state at the top?

I dont doubt youve got 65 miles to a tenner in your gti, but I'm not talking about that. The 1.4 golf is a heavy car with a small spi engine, hence it has to work harder to perform, therefore its fuel efficiency aint great. Its a fact. If i recall rightly, the 1.6 returns similar, if not better mpg.

I'm not a 17 year old chav either. I'm knocking on 30, and i too drive pretty sensibly, and NEVER have achieved over 50 mpg in my golf. A tenner got me a hundred miles for sure, but that was when petrol was 1.20 a litre! I dont think its possible for a car thats nearly 20 years old to become MORE FUEL EFFICIENT than it was when it was new.

they're still pretty decent on fuel though.

I just dont like people being misled when buying a car. Its happened to me before and it aint fun.

Ps, looks like a great car, and for a brilliant price, dont get me wrong.

i do pay 123 p/l , as we buy petrol and diesel in bulk as have machenery etc that runs on both , so yes it does do 90 miles to a tenner , but if your fuel price's are more higher than mine , than yes it will do less ,
