the noise is a bang/wirring noise

increases with speed and quietens down with steering

the noise goes louder with speed aswell?

can anyone help?

does the steering feel loose - does the car wander.. or does it wobble? could be worn track rod end or wheel bearing. if theres no visible damage and you haven't given it a hard knock it'll be one of those things. Jack it up and check for play between 9 and 3 o clock. if it only wobbles that way you have a worn track rod end sir.

if it is a wirring noise then yes its bearing - its a bang noise then possibly not..

knocking noises can be the bearing,remember me thinking my gearbox was about to unhitch itself at one point,but was a bearing

does the noise change as you turn? for example louder on a left turn,but quiten when you turn a right? at speed

Mines doing exactly the same fella, and is doing exactly as gaz^ described haha. It knocks when pulling away, coming to a stop etc. and whirrs so loud when turning left that i cant hear myself talk......think its about time the bearings were changed...

hey guys, yea its a wirring banging, increases with speed then fades at high speed, returns as i slow back down, sounds like somethings going round and round following the motion of the wheels, is this deffo a bearing? am i right thinking these are dear to replace? i know driveshafts are abit exspensive arent they? these old polos give you some right probs haha, i also thought it was my gearbox loose haha :p I'm going to jack it up in the morning and investigate as best i can to my knowledge...which is minimal haha

Id put my car on it being a wheel bearing mate, the whirring is classic symptoms. I got quoted 80 quid a side today but I'm sure you could find somewhere cheaper than that, just have a good look around :)

hi all

just had my passenger front wheel bearing replaced

since my ride has been very bumpy

little bumps the front end sounds like its heavy as!

there is also play i think

the wheels are at 12 but the steering wheel is near 1!!??

has the bugger sent my tracking out or could there be more to it?>>
