does it sound like a jet engine? possibly the wheel bearing.

clicking or banning, could maybe be the driveshaft.

First bet would probably be wheel bearing, could possibly make a banging noise if the bearing is breaking up.

its a really odd noise, its a grind/rub noise, I've wiggled my wheels and the bearings seem fine. is there a CV joint under there aswell? I'm thinking thats given up as the car makes the noise when the car is moving forwards and then when turning etc it fades as if the 'play' has been compensated somehow

thanks for reply dude :)

yea, the driveshaft has a CV joint, if the bearing free play seems ok, then chances are it is the driveshaft. unless of course there is something else rubbing on the wheel :)

wheel bearing could be out of grease, thats whats happend to mine atm!

how can i check this? whats the damage price wise on a new CV/driveshaft do you guys know?

thanks for the advice :)

i believe the front wheel bearings on a 6n2 are contained, so that you just have to replace them, and you cant check them. As for the price of a new driveshaft, have a look on euro car parts, think a whole shaft is just over 100 quid, might be best to shop around.

how annoying :( is it more likely to be a bearing, driveshaft or a CV joint dya think? think i'll see what a mechanic says first then go from there i guess! will this affect my driving (unsafe) ?

thanks mate
