That was the silver mk2 eric bought to replace the red one, turned out red one was better so kept that and scrapped/broke the silver one.

I'll be starting a new progress thread for this car by the way - I'll post a link here if you guys are interested.

She's up and running nicely now, new alternator fitted and she's a go-er.

I'll be honest - not driving for a whole year and then going to having no lights or wipers in horrible rain/pitch black while being towed is a pretty horrible experience.

Just to clear this up, The Polo started absolutely fine when we were there, multiple times, It was only £20 to get her back running properly again anyway! Eric is a good guy. Nice genuine sale with a nice clean AFH conversion.

Eric are you 100% sure its the front? You haven't put a slightly too long nut in one of the rear wheels have you?

Yeah, that!

Mine did it, but that was because id put the shoes on backwards haha

too long bolts would do the same though when you brake. They hit the shoes.

its on completely standard wheels dude, and its only when i brake. deffo feels like its the front, the passengers can feel it in the floor lol. the pedal feels like it has a high spot or something if you know what i mean? like if I'm going slowly, the pedal will feel fine for most of the revoloution of the wheel, and then theres like a bump which i can feel

yeah, drivers side wasnt wearing evenly, so i changed the disk to a spare. wasnt as bad but still did it.

do vw1's fit straight on? as if they do, there going straight on on saturday :)

All it takes is for a wheel bolt to get mixed up while a wheel is off and if its longer than it should be it can catch the springs and shit in the rear hub as its turning. You will feel it through the floor cause the twang comes through the axle to the chassis, its well worth checking out mate cause I've had the same happen in the past and it was down to a long bolt.

Just jack the car up and put the hand brake on a bit but so you can still just about turn the wheel, doing this should give you and idea of if its the rear wheel or not if you hear the twang while turning it, if it is undo one wheel bolt at a time until you find the one that causing it and replace it with a shorter one, or chop some off it

all the bolts are the standard vw ones and there standard steels, nothing should be hitting rreally? its pretty much stopped now anyways, think it may have been a siezed piston in the caliper or some shit! brakes are feeling much better too!
