No Claims Bonus

Featured Replies

I crashed last year in February, my first year of driving. I'm now in my second year and it's been 14 months since my crash.

I'm looking at replacing my Polo with a Bora or preferably a mk2 golf and doing dummy quotes on gocompare to get an idea of insurance.

I did a quote earlier for a 1.6 mk2, third party fire & theft, 1 years no claims and it came out around 2300. I then put it as fully comp and staggeringly it went down to 1600! I then took the years no claims off (being unsure whether I do have it or not) and it shot up to 3000 odd!

My Policy was renewed last year (2010) in October I believe as thats when, in 2009, I passed my test. My mum recons I will only have a years no claims this October (if I don't crash before then ofcourse) as I will have had no claims on this years policy.

Is this right or will I effectively have a years NC if I start a new policy?? I don't want to have to wait another 6 months! :(

Hope this is clear and thanks for any help

Tom
