Heading looks like am about to start talking bout heroin but i'm not,

I've had my license for 5 years 2 days ago and i've never had a point!... until me and all my pals spoke about what points who has and what for and them BAM!!! traffic police catch me enjoying 2nd gear a bit too much and hit me with 3 points and £60 fine!

So all my smuggness of bein the only one without any points and having my license the longest has just backfired on me :(

On the Positive tho! my car insurance has still halfed!! which to be honest was the only thing i was worrying about.

Realised just how easy it is to get caught! and that the 5 years i've just been redicilously lucky i've not been caught before, not that i'm a mad boy racer or anything, but when you have a 1.8T it's too easy to speed without realising

All joking aside its just bad luck! You can drive perfect for 10 years and have one lack of concentration hit 35 and be sacked with points!

I'm all for the roads been moderated as they do need it but i think lee way should be given in minor cases based on your own record, oh and more time spent just getting the guys with no insurance or tax!

Speaking about the no insurance and tax i was so tempted to grass on the woman next door as her tax expired 3 months ago, but thought i would be there longer and i really wanted to eat the curry i had just bought and was going to eat, haha

I gave them the awww come on guys 5 years clean can i not just get a warning blah blah blah i've got my mot, road tax, service and everythng this month and now £60 have a heart!

There answer was well last nite wee stopped a guy here and he didn't have insurance, he was drunk and he had drugs on him... so you've got it fairly good compared to him...

So didn't really know what to say so took the slip n went home to eat my curry haha

always managed to make the police let me off if I have been caught doing something stupid

The only points I've got though, are from a copper on a pushbike for parkin on a zigzagged line for 5 mins while I nipped into a shop!

I've had points for nearly 5 years now. So there about to drop off from having to declair them!

Doesnt affect your insurance at all really. Nearly everyone has at least 3 points from the cunning bastards that hide away with the mobile speed cams!

Think we can cause them some hell? find as many people with cheap insurance and a clean license, find a parked traffic cop and convoy past at speeds just above the limit then if one gets pulled we all stop. The paper work for a high number of cars would drive them mad.

I'm not sure whats worse these days, the speed cameras everywhere i need to drive or the speed bumps!

8 years and nothing so far :) I'm not really a speeder though and have EAGLE EYES.

9 years clean, got done doing 61 last week in what must be the shortest 50 on earth (about 1/2 a mile), didnt even know it was a 50 or see the scamera van, but they sent the forms for the speed awareness course in with the NIP forms, so still technically got a clean licence.

Funny thing is upon researching a lot of people have been done doing 57-63 at the same place.

Just cleared my points in Feb, had 8 on my licence. All from driving, none from my motorbike, go figure!

Well I sold my car last month so think the curse will've worn off by the time I can afford another!

I hvae been driving 47 years. For years I had a clean licence, in spite of doing some really dick-headed things in my youth. Only broke my duck when speed cameras were introduced. before then, the fuz had to follow you for at least 3/10th of a mile before they could stop you for speeding. Now these cameras can measure the speed over a fwe centimeters! And the camera vans still hide so that you cannot see them easily, in spite of the guidelines.

Most speeding tickets are the result of a moments inadvertance or poor signage. Believe you me, it has an awful lot to do with luck and just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some cars are luckier than others. i never managed a speeding ticket in the Metro Turbo, but got stpooed with depressing frequency with a Mk 6 Ford Escort (How I hated that car!). However, I have found one thing. If you get done for being just a bit over the limit (like 35 in a 30 limit) it pays to make a fuss. Twice I have done that now, and on both occasions, after the first hearing, i got a letter from the spped camera partnership saying that they were not pursuing the matter further.

That having been said,

That having been said,

The camera vans are a complete waste of time here. I know of three locations they sit at around here. The first is slap-bang in the middle of a totally open straight, you can see it pretty sharpish. The second tries to hide, but not well, people coming the other way usually flag you down for that one. The great thing about that one is someone has now sat a pick-up truck on front of where they like to hide as it's private property (access to a field) so the vans can't get in. The third is in a horrible place and it almost got me least year - When you enter the town from one end the speed limit is 40 but at some point, I don't know when, it goes down to 30. I beleive it drops at one of these tiny little speed signs that you can hardly see as you are watching the road. I'll bet camera's have caused accidents in the past.

One good thing to remember is that car manufacturers are allowed a 3% (3 mp/h) margin either way of a given speed on their speedometers. For example, my dads Fiat Punto exaggerates your speed by one or two mp/h. Don't quote me on that though.

4days clean ha was late for work and i got caught for an unmarked car :( was a braw day after that ha :)

Speedos are out, and they are allowed to read fast, but not slow. Mine is about bang on when measuring with a sat nav, but my gf's reads about 10% fast.

The speedo legally has to be within 10% accurate @ 30mph
