Ricky Gervais, Steven Merchant and Karl Pilkington

Featured Replies

Hey guys, basically i am a huge fan of Ricky Gervais, mainly from his stand ups, a few years back i saw 'The Ricky Gervais' show advertised on television which is an animated version of the podcasts he did. Since i fell in love with this, i've been listening/watching/reading everything about them.

They 'originated' back in 2002 when Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant hosted a radio show on XFM in which Karl started off as a producer until they got chatting to him and realised how funny he actually is. Series 2 of the radioshow introduced Karl into more of a DJ role. Up until recently, a fan of the radio show has put all of the shows up for download with all the music cut out, however they've stopped this now.

Some of you may have seen An Idiot Abroad, which i loved and am now reading the book of it.

If you haven't heard any of their stuff,i suggest downloading their 'guide to's.

If you are a fan, i'd like to know your thoughts :)

Random post i know, but these guys are all my heroes.

thanks for reading :)

Yeah Ricky Gervais has major front and doesn't give a shit tbf.

They are all absolutely genius, just wish they did some new podcasts, however, on Pilkipedia i have read about Series 2 of An Idiot Abroad where Karl does 'things you need to do before you die'

HOWEVER, i have just found out, they did a guide to Comic Relief in March, oh my god, this has made my day, i am now downloading.

The Office was the best!

The "Guides to" were amazing... went on a massive binge of them for waaaaaay to long.

Loved it though.

Not got Sky though so not seen the Idiot Abroad programme... any good?

Probably the only thing that i don't love by Ricky Gervais

Yeah man, i'm still on my huge binge!!

Me neither, i just DL'd from PirateBay, they're amazing, truly amazing, highly suggest it.

Listened to the podcast when it was first out a good few year ago. Started working my way though them recently since we've been exceptionally quiet at work. Still just as funny.

It did annoy me a little on the comic relief video that they did, where Karl used the old lady with a tan story again, made it feel less natural and almost more planned.

I hate the guy, just my opinion though :p

I think you're the first person who i've spoke to who has said this, for what reasons?

I hate the guy, just my opinion though :p

Yeah he's a total douche that Karl. If that's who your referring to.

Ricky aint too bad, those pompous pricks in hollywood needed knocking down a few pegs.

Yeahhh i think the Ricky Gervais show is in series 2 on television, amazing.

I think they are all ok, but wouldn't say they are hilariously funny or anything.

Although I do like some bits of An Idiot Abroad

some bits?!

it's constantly hilarious, these 3 people are the best in comedy!

the only good thing ricky gervais has done is the office, everything else just not funny. 'an idiot abroad' is just the worst programme, some random guy who cant act complaining about other countries?? BOLLOCKS

Stephen Merchant makes Portal 2.

Totally disagree, everything Gervais has done i've enjoyed, an idiot abroad is absolutely hilarious, i guess if you don't know much about him then it's not as good!

Stephen Merchant makes Portal 2.

Portal 2? i haven't seen it!

One of my favourites.

Stephen Merchant makes Portal 2.

I remember reading somewhere that he just did the voiceover for the trailer but wasn't going to do the whole game, so was pretty pleased to find he was Wheatley still! Superb scripting too, would be interesting to know if he had much of a part to play in the script writing.

Yesss!!

I got a balcony seat in Bristol,i hope its not too shocking!

We completely missed out on the fact he was touring and most places had sold out, ended up paying a little over the odds on Ticketmaster's resale thingy, but it was worth it for second row seats... he best live up to expectations!
