mk3 coupe AFH ITB's, custom cage, custom sub frame

Featured Replies

Right i've had my polo 2 years now! and thought it would be time to start a thread of what i have done and where i plan on taking the project!

So here goes,

Here is Pablo when i got him home, he's a bog standard 1.3 CL

P07-02-09_150401.jpg

Then 2 weeks after getting it (not even passed my test by this point!) some fecker tries to have away with it!! This was the resultant damage caused!

They had tried so hard to break the steering lock that the steering wheel was all twisted and the tab on the steering column actually sheared!!

And they help them selves to my brother old knackered sub and amp that didnt work!

I managed to get it all fixed up with help from a few people on here (getting parts etc.). Biggest ballache was trying to get all the glass out as it just keeps majically appearing!!

Then Pablo stayed standard through the summer of 2009 and then in Jan 2010 i got a 80mm lowering kit from JSRaid (are they still going??)

Next was to get some wheels! and I've always had a soft spot for PSlots, so i managed to pick a set of 4 up off ebay with tyres for £80, they came rattled canned black so i attacked them with some nitromores and got polishing till they looke like this!

(not the best photo!)

I also had a few rust spots cleared up and the drivers side rear arch repaired as the previous owner had mullered it!

I also managed to get a pair of sirocco seats for free admittedly they were fooked but sat alot further down for that ganstarrr look!

And thats the way he stayed for a good while (funds were tight).

I got a message off mr Dan Knight asking if i wanted a full late spec G40 interior so i snapped it up for cheap and it is so much more comfortable than the old shaggged sirocco seats!

It got broken into in January dumb twats couldnt even get the head unit out so they smashed it up instead

Now recently me and the ladyfriend parted ways which gave me a shit load more time and money, so i started giving Pablo some loving! The brakes were completley shot as you will see, so I decided to upgrade to Vauxhall calipers and mk2 GTI 16V discs and a 22.2mm master cylinder.

And the completely fobared drivers side disc

Then while bleeding my brakes the rear passenger side bleed nipple just sheared off so had to replace that too

Its a tight squeeze

Now that the brakes are sorted it would be rude not to give Pablo some more go!! I had got a full conversion off Popdragin on here which sat in my garage while i slowly spuced it up with a lick of paint and new seals gaskets water pump clutch etc.

so out with the old 1.3 the head gasket had just started to go (mayo under the cap and a loss of power and poor idle oh and a quite sever water leak from the water pump and a rattly alternater too)

There arn't any photo's of the GT lump in as it was only just dropped in this weekend.

And that's where I'm upto so far. ill try and keep the updates coming.

And let me know what you think.

Cheers for reading :)

This is true, i was more bothered that some scum bag had been sat in my car!

oh and by the way the car nearly went up in flames yesterday when i tried to start her after the GT conversion. I hadnt tightened the fuel rail bleed screw enough (with it being alloy didnt want to bugger it up) and with 3bar behind it it pissed fuel out and there was sparks flying everywhere from what i expect is a bad earth.

Hopefully it could be running tomorrow night YIPPEE.

And ill try and sort out some photos as everyone likes photos!!

Cool stuff. Make sure the earths are good and correct on the new engine. They are easy to forget when wanging an engine in, one of mine was just flapping around on my mk2 GT coupe. No wonder the ECU got the hump. Easily sorted mind.

You will love the GT engine so much. They are fun.

8-)

Well not updated this in a while, got some new wheels they should be on over the next week or so, still need to get a full stainless system and the chip fitted. then ill probably have a mk4 golf estate by then as a daily. Fear not though the Polo will be kept and transformed into a trackday car. thinking cage, decent seats, gsxr throttle bodies emerald management, ATB diff, seam welded and coilovers. or sack the GT engine off altogether and take on something a little different ala 1.6 TSI.

Right I've got to the point where i can afford a nice comfotable daily (mk5 jetta) and keep my polo as a long term project!

Plans are

AFH on ITB's running Emerald management

stripped interior and weld in cage

custom subframe with ARB

Custom coilovers

ill be keeping the 265mm brake set up as its plenty beefy enough

rear disc conversion

cae super shifter

and probably a whole lot more along the way

ill warn you now updates may be very few and far between! but if i get my arse into gear it may be ready for VW fest next year :)
