I've read in quite a few reliable places now that VW are actually in the process of joining the WRC. They've been telling everyone that they will have largest budget and also one of the best driver line-ups ever and with a car ready to win straight out of the box.

The reg's have now changed and everyones driving about in Fiesta's, DS3'S and now Bini's. So VW would obviously put forward the Polo, but I'm sure the Polo isnt there best selling ie the Golf and Scirocco.

Does VW have any history at all in rallying at that level? Yes i know they've won the Dakar countless times in the Tourag!

I know this is early days but anyone got any good info or a good opinion on the subject?

I wouldn't have guessed that they would use the Polo, I think they would be more likely to use the Sirocco or the Golf. Only time will tell.

They're definitely using the Polo. And you wait till you hear who's gonna be driving it.

Strange choice, but it is their cheapest car on the market at the moment so it kind of makes sense.

I would have thought they would have used a rocco for the wide arch potential, il atualy start watching wrc agian :)

I can't say. Nothing's confirmed but look at the WRC drivers and you'll work it out.

The Bini's a weird looking thing isn't it! I love it from the front (looks tough!) but get around to the three quarter view and it starts to go downhill quickly. It's got real presence though.

Polo IS the logical choice as is a direct competitor for the fiesta and the DS3.

THe last time VW was involved in rallying as a works project was the Golf mark II rallye

Although there have been Polo rally cars before!

But I reckon they might tempt Marcus Gronholm out of retirement, The Quatari driver who won Dakar with them is a logical choice and of King Carlos has good links witht them, but probably too old for a comeback!

Can't use a scirocco because the track width is 10mm over the FIA limit.

Mikko would be the harder to take from Ford as he's well settled and been their no1 driver for many years, look at this season although he finished behind Jarr-Matti last season he's the one with no3 on his door!

They could always get Ken Block, he'd test the strength of the bodyshell and rollcage !!!!

Lol, i doubt thats anything to do with VW tbh, look how bad the photoshop is. The wheels in the reflection are different and they are spinning, I should think VW would make more of an effort than that.

Seb Loeb has said no to driving for another rally team, but Micheal Schumacher said he was 100% committed to stayin retired!

What about Marcus Gronholm?? Just as good as the rest of them and he's always popping around testing new cars for new teams.

I wouldnt surprised if VW dont just get one of Skodas S2000 IRC cars and just change the badge and engine!
