I have a 51 plate 2002 1.2 12v polo...

a couple of weeks ago i got the brake wear light on and thought nothing of it... checked the pads - nothing wrong with them. light went out. It has developed into an intermittent fault of randomly coming on... but also at the same time the car splutters and you have to accellerate through it. I have tied off the brake pad wire to stop this fault and it has continued ?... any ideas ?!

There are no faults on vag com linked to this... but i have got a fuel bank to rich / lean , water temp sender intermittent fault.. broken wire ?... any ideas where to look ?!

Please help.. this is doing my head in as i spend a lot of time on the motorway.

I just wonder if the fault is not with the brake wear light at all, but the 'intermittent temperature sender fault - broken wire?' is somehow bringing on the brake wear light. The 'rich/lean' could also refer to this, as if the temperature sensor is playing up, it could in fact give the splutter as the fueling changes.

If there are no obvious wiring faults, it may pay to fit a new temperature sensor and see what effect that has.

I decided to code out the brake wear indicator the other day as i find it incredibly annoying.

Cleaned and adapted the throttle housing and things seem to have improved quite a lot.

I haven't checked fault codes yet as my girlfriend has the laptop. If the intermittent temp fault appears a couple more times i will certainly look at changing the temp sender.

The car is certainly running a lot better.. but occasionally when it gets hot after i have been on the motorway for a while it will judder a bit. This slight judder only ever appears when i have been driving for approx an hour.
