Hi Guys!,

About a year ago I bought Polopetes 1990 Mk2 Polo Coupe that he had been building and tuning. The original build thread can be found HERE

The car is pretty much as I bought it, I have had to replace a few things along the way, sort out a few little problems but it has never let me down, and has never failed to put a smile on my face. Here are the specs:

Whats been replaced

- New FACET fuel pump

- New Balljoint

- New Waterpump

- New Rear section of the Exhaust

- New Timing belt

- New Camshaft oilseal

- Rear brakes replaced, with new fitting kit

- The car has had a tuned ABD engine conversion running on the DMTL carb (see build thread for details), RR'd at 86bhp and 92lbft, great fun to drive.

- G40 brake conversion, Brembo MAX disks

- Koni Yellow adjustable dampers, -40mm Eibach springs.

- GT interior, black carpets, G40 Steering wheel.

- GT Steels, 13x5.5J 175/60 R13

- Oil Catch Tank

- Chrome K&N Pan Airfilter

- Solid overall bodywork, few scabs and dents as expected

- Mechanically very good.

- 5 speed 8p gearbox

- Clear front Indicators

- Nurburgring Sticker :)

- Alpine CD player with Ipod connection

Bad points:

- Burns a little bit of oil at full throttle, not much but keep an eye on it if you do a lot of 'with spirit' driving compression tested, totally fine.

- a few interior niggles, grey parcel shelf, scuffs on the seats

- few scabs and dings on the panels

- battery tray repaired, seam sealed.

- Crack in the screen. Got a stone hit in winter time an didnt see it as it was under the wiper, turned on the heater and... crack! So it needs a replacement.

- Probably need 2 new front tyres

- A stupid woman backed into the wing and put a dent it, not too big but just enough to annoy me! So needs a fix/replace

The reason for the sale is simple, I have had to get a new car for work, and the poor VW doest fit the part :( (Yeah I know, what a sellout but it pays the rent...) I have a nice but very dull 06 Fiesta now and I cannot afford to run 2 cars so it has to go. MOT is till the end of July so there is plenty of time to have some fun and sort the few things it needs, there is no tax as it ran out 31 March.

Curious about the oil burning... how do you know its doing it?

As in, does it throw crap out the exhaust or is it a much smaller thing?

I have been trying to pin it down, if you give it full throttle then there is a little smoke, but when driven normally there is none at all so its burning it some how. Oil needs topping up (depending on how hard you drive it!) anywhere from once a month to once a week. It runs and pulls fine, did all sorts of tests, wet compression dry compression, looked for leaks, its weird. Car has done about 10,000 miles or so with me and been perfect.

Reminds me of my old Beetle and its weekly checks...

Sorry I cant shed any more light, I just top it up and enjoy it.

Sounds no worse than my old Polo tbh.

lol ill cry when it leaves my life i can tell you! I have a few guys interested and there is a bit of an order of things (i like to play fair and nice) its sort of sold, or hel, or promised or whatever for a few days this week, ill keep you all informed (dont worry i have th order written down!!)
