Anyone bought a car recently?

Featured Replies

This may be a silly question but i bought my 6N2 afew months back and when i got the new V5 form through in my name i noticed it was red when they used to be blue.

I was just wondering if this is the new format for the V5 forms or are they only like this in special cases?

I didnt trust the guy i bought my car off entirely (turned out the car was spot on) but just wanted to see if anyone else had a red form?

thanks

That is correct. Sent off all 4 V5s for my cars when I moved house, and all of them came back as the new red format.

Cheers mate, just wanted to double check, like i said, wasnt to sure on the guy i bought it off and just wanted to make sure a red form didnt indicate something he might have been hiding.

the dvla would be your first point of contact for enquires regarding falsified V5 documents, but as Karl has stated, the new red-headed V5's are correct.

make sure you got a receipt as the V5 isnt proof of ownership, for some retarded reason

I have recently got mine back and it is the same, i was wondering, if the v5c aint proof of ownership then what is? I honestly thought that that was the only thing that made it yours! If a theif comes and robs my house steals my keys and takes my car dowe that then make it his car ...... coz i have no proof of ownership anymore?

Seems retarded to me then agen its just another retarded UK rule to go with the rest

It's because the DVLA lost a few thousand blank copies of the old style logbook a few years back.
