time to upgrade standard speakers

Featured Replies

Hi

I've bought a new subwoofer and although I'm running it off a fairly weak amp, compared to the sub i still can hear the voice from my front speakers when i have the volume up and the bad thing is i will be upgrading my amp soon, so I've decided to upgrade my front and rear passenger speakers , i know there 6.5" (17cm) but which ones would be ideal, i dont really need them for bass , i want good voice coming from the front and bass from my boot, so are 3 way better or components, and how do i go about adding tweeters if necessary?

cheers

yeah they are 6.5 inches....but would recommend looking at jl audio or diamond, these the creme de la creme of speakers.....

straight to the point mate , nice one

cheers

My mate's got some 6.5" JBL speakers... I can honestly say they don't sound as good as my Vibe's. The vibe's are more crisp in the sound they produce and seem more bassy (this might be down to how he set his amp up though). I will vouch for Vibe Slick 6 comps :D Fantastic speakers and sound epic when amp'd.

actually I've heard good things about those, ill take any of them 2, ps what defines a good component speaker?

is it the highest freq and db? or rms wattage?

to be honest, everyones got different opinions as to what sounds good and what doesnt - its all down to personal preference, how its fitted and what its running off. I've used vibe before and most of it broke, nor was I that impressed. Vibe is also quite a bit more money compared to other things.

For me though, if you wanted a good priced, nice sounding, reliable system i would go with JBL. Never been dissapointed with any of their produts and their subs are crazy!!!

x 2 , jbl is like a household name in audio,

I've got a few choices, as i said its not the bass i want from them, its just clear and crisp audio, as I'm running my bass in the boot, : which one is best out fo these:

hi

so i recieved my JBL-GT5-650C

today and when installing them i discovered my car already hs components in the front which are jbl and in the back doors lol,,,

anyway I've installed the new ones and kept the old ones on the side, the new ones are brilliant but the left side tweeter sounds very weak and distorted compared to the right side,

I've checked wiring but everything else is the same, is the tweeter damaged?

its a brand new kit and i have warranty

thanks

JBL or Vibe IMO, i need to do mine tbh

Every speaker getting changed...Comps, tweeters, sub, amp and 6x9s also. Whatever i can do.

Have you checked the crossover and that it's all connected nice and properly?

Hmm, try switching the tweeter to the opposite side, if it's still sounding shit then send them back.

Oh, you haven't messed with the settings that controls what side the sounds are coming from etc have you haha? :p
