Well, if they are anything like they are in Dumfries & Galloway (not far from Cumbria) they won't give a flying fuck. I had a truck just about crash on front of me not long ago, headed for a corner, kept going straight and swerved at the last second before going off the other side. Pulled up in the next town and told a copper who had just pulled up outside the station and he basically said 'Oh, okay, thanks'. He couldn't care less.

I was doing 60 in a 40 once, copper flashed his blues at me...

they couldnt know your speed if they were going the other direction, think, even if u was doing 40 round the bendm, they were moving in the opposite direction so it may look more to them but they cant know for sure. its not like them being behind you etc lol

they wont try and get you on the speed, you have to be careful about answering their questions.

eg.

If they ask you something along the lines of:

"Did you feel in complete control of the car?"

or,

"Did you feel that the speed you were doing was safe for the road/conditions?"

Just make sure you tell them that you felt that your speed was safe and that you were in complete control of the car...

Oh shit I just remembered my mate once did exactly the same as you and it turned out the van was being driven by a notorious gang of crack heads. They followed him home and left him to settle down to sleep, once they knew he was asleep they carefully broke in and crept up to his room. I can't really go into detail on a public forum about what they did to him but put it this way, he didn't die a virgin and his mum couldn't formally identify the corpse...
