I am a bit worried if my 1.0 polo 6n can cope on motorway - what speed should i do and stay on to avoid any engine stress?

they were built to be able to cope in any situation that comes about in normal driving. should sit at 70-80 with ease. your main problem would be if its not been maintained

yep should be fine around 70mph , just make sure the fluids are topped up and its all in good shape

It will be fine, you'll just have to plan your moves a bit more than if you were in a car with more poke.

well considering the speed limit is 70 youll be fine, and theres always lots of road to overtake a truck etc =D

Just don't get to 88mph otherwise you'll go back to the future.

about 60 is fine on a standard box any faster and it gets too loud for my liking, as for stressing the engine it should be able to sit at 85 all day if its well maintained.

i sit my 1.3 at 65 happily and its not the best maintained or newest car so you could do 70 easy all day i should imagine but if you hear a loud bang stop as its most likely broken then you can get a 1.4 and abolish all worries you previously had

You have to maintain this speed though, any slower is less fuel efficient.

I came from nottingham to sandbach services on the m6 wednesday too meet tezmc (1 hour 20mins) and pretty much sat at 60-90 all the way up in my gt and it coped fine, surprisingly good on the motorway, overtaking and such. If your worried just sit on he slow lane and piss off some truckers.

Its all about the bottle game with 1.0's, i used to play it in an 850 mini - you put your foot to the carpet and leave it there. No taking your foot off. At all. These days its probably easier,given that everyone sits at 100mph anyway.

Whatever you feel comfortable with. Just remember, especially with a little engine, the faster you go, the more fuel you burn. I used to vary it when I used a 1.3 Mk2 for work, sit at 60 with the wagons for a bit, then when it's clear put a bit of a run on.

It's not much of a factor, but constant speeds affect engine wear.

Thursday night I had to drive up to stoke on Trent on the m6 and at one point I must of been passing a broken down car every half a mile on the way back. honestly couldn't believe how many there were, every thing from the old shit you'd expect to the latest model of mondeo. There had been a lot of stop start traffic tho so I can only assume people hadn't done the proper checks before leaving and ended up cooking them in the traffic jam.

I had to drive 4 other people up to york and back from surrey via various places in london the other day in my gt and it ran perfectly, apart from having to raise the rear suspension in the m1 services and my radiator falling off and splitting haha.

I like to travel at 3x10⁸ms^-1 at that speed no one can see you and you get to where you going in no time at all...

tbh you should reach your destination before this occurs otherwise......

just sit at 60 if your in no rush.
