Does anybody know when the Playstation network will be back on, it has been off since wednesday now and its getting rather annoying now!

Been down since the 20th. Some service should be resumed today but Europe might ntlot be up for another 2 days.

oh joy! i spent good money renting test drive expecting it to be back online soon, but oh no, its not going to be! bet they took the bank holiday off as well! ah well, looks like I'm gunna have to find something else to do with my spare time like go out in the sun rather than shoot people on COD. :-D

No one knows anything, it's all speculation atm and its really fucking me of how many are complaining i can't say its bothered me one bit but then again i don't live by playing game all the time. Saying that from "anoy" IRC server there stating they have nothing to do with it and could possibly be some other hackers setting them up or it could even be "anoy" either way i couldn't care get people of there arse and lap up some sun instead of being glued to the TV set.

It will be up when its up, i see why if the hackers did do it and serves sony right but then again I'm still pretty fucked off with Hotz hacking the PS3 because it caused nothing but problems for most genuine players and i think anyone hacking on any game should be Perm Banned no if or buts about it.

The only real problems caused is the ability to play pirated material! Other than that i think 'hacked' consoles really expand what the machine can do and show its true potential!

Homebrew applications are brilliant on the most part and the ability to fully customise your console to suit your needs is something that shouldnt need a 'hack' to do.

I remember i modded my old Xbox back when i used to follow that scene and i put together a machine that was more powerful than my current PC and allowed me to do much more than just play games, it created a full multimedia machine did everything i needed at the time.

As stated the only thing i do not agree with in the modding scene is piracy. Companies should allow you to do as you please to the machine you bought and you own and stick your own OS on or software so long as you do avoid piracy and do avoid cheating or botting with games.

If you want to have an issue with people have a go at the companies that are sue happy when intelligent people manage to get more out of a console than the creators did, its our machine so long as we aint harming anyone or the industry we should be able to do as we please.

How about car companies start stipulating what engines we put in, what interiors we install, what ICE we like to have or even how we like to drive em.

All just corporate BS, they dont like to be bettered!

Copied games must take such a fucking massive chunk out of game sales.

I think if u were making a game, and then some dicko came and copied it and started making money on it, causing you to loose out on money. that you'd be pretty fucked off.

To the best of my knowledge, anonymous have DDos'd the Sony servers.

I got this bit from the papers this morning.

The group anonymous have said they haven't done it (which I don't understand, to ask anon something is stupid, youll rarely get the same person) but they said that a rogue anon may have done it.

Firstly, I highly doubt there's even any rogue anon, Secondly, you can't really ask anon as a singularity, because theres so many, across various boards. Usually /b/ , /v/ or maybe even /g/ that would be capable as a group to do something like this. There's a few hundred thousand people easily.

But why would i want to use the PC upstairs when i can happily use the PS3 as a linux box next to and hooked into my TV.....As said its not just a console but a full multimedia platform and its easier than me hooking my laptop up or any other PC.

The cheating is the worse part for an end user but id happily still mod even without the ability to play 'back up games' in fact i havnt had a pirated game for as long as i can remember even with the consoles modded. I support the industry i just like using a machine to its full potential and how i want it to be used.

My 360 bust (still got 2 more in the house ha) but I've found more things to do now it's not actually working so it's been a good thing! Cars getting more attention and the house is clean!

I'm pretty sure you get shit from more 12yr olds on the PS3 because of it being free.

Also, paying for it seems to work, xbox's live has never been down like this

they also dont take court action on people who mod there consoles. they just ban them from live like forever
