As above, when the car is up to temperature, and you accelerate, it hessitates. This becomes more prevelant when putting it under load, ie going up hill.

You only notice it when you drive the car, its not so obvious as a passenger.

Have changed the plugs and leads, checked the cap and arm which are ok and iv cleaned up the throttle body.

I have found that the vacuum pipe running onto the side of the brake servo is cracked, and so this will soon be replaced. Not sure if this would be related to the problem?

There were 3 fault codes in the memory, o2 sensor, idle control valve and knock sensor. These codes were cleared, and the car plugged in again, returning the idle control valve fault, again, is this likely to be related to the problem?

I'm a bit stuck, so any help would be great,

Make it hesitate then see if theres a code that springs up.

I don't have the codes, as its not my car, and I belive it was just on idle. I was planning to check the ignition timming next, what dyou reckon?

anyways, o2 and knock sensors will affect the acceleration quite a bit, my 1.4 is slugish atm as i need to sort the knock sensor, I've just replaced the lambda(o2)

mines the same, I've just put it down to being a 1 Litre :/

We are aware what cars we drive. Sometimes it's feels 'nippy' while others it's feels like I'm towing a house.

I Don't recall my 1L being hesistant, well apart from when it was running on three cylinders 1L polo's arnt too slow! i love using the term nippy :)

Could be firing on three then cutting back into four , happened to my 1 litre got well annoying in the end

yep, misfiring. Got the exact same problem, no one no where has any idea what the problem is. I simply drop down gears and rev the bollocks off it, it's quite happy when you're reving hard.

As for it "being 1L", this is not exactly true. I had a 1L suzuki alto that never did this, it also idled properly too and gave me more mph.

Fuel pump going / clogged fuel filter? Check your plugs and see what colour they are.
