This car is fantastic, and the best car I have ever owned. It's a 2004 (54 plate), 3 door Seat Ibiza FR tdi. I bought it because I needed a sensible car, and don't think I could beat this with any other 'sensible' car.

The car has a Milltek exhaust, pd160 intake, green cotton panel filter, and P-torque remap. It is producing just shy of 190bhp, and yet it returns 45mpg easily! To add to this, it is insurance group 8, and to put this in perspective I am 19 years old and insuring it for just over £800 a year! It is also just £125 to tax for the year.

The car also has the sporty FR interior with all mod-cons, including climate control (ice cold), mpg display etc. It is very comfortable and nice to drive. It is also in probably the most desirable colour (metallic black). Other FR features include stiffer suspension and alloy wheels.

The car has 130k on it, but the majority of this was covered in the first 3 years. It was a company car and, as such, was maintained to very high standards (have receipts for work carried out totalling thousands) . It is also reassuring to know it is motorway miles, so nice long journeys with the engine up to temperature!

These cars have the pd130 engine, which is also in the mk4 golf, seat leon, vw passat, audi a4 etc. It is an extremely good engine, and other than servicing I haven't touched it since owning. It has been a very reliable car, and there are many examples (particularly golfs) of these going well over 250k and still selling for good money!

£3500 ono. Has got a good amount of tax/MOT, will find out exact dates and update. Car also has 6 gears, and it surprises a lot of cars on the road!

- Chip in windscreen although this was repaired before I bought it so shouldn't be a problem

Now, the reason the car is a project! I had a small run-in with a curb earlier in the year. I will give a fully detailed account of the damage, what's been done, and what needs doing to get the car sorted, so you know what you're buying. The damage was to the passenger side of the car. The curb tore the lower part of the front bumper, and pushed the lower part of the radiator backwards. The radiator outlet broke the starter motor. The passenger side front wheel hit the curb, which punctured the tyre, and bent one of the track-rods. Obviously no airbags went off. My insurance company was NOT informed of the incident, and the car is HPI clear.

I have removed the old front bumper, plastic front panel, radiator, and starter motor, and fitted the spare wheel. I sourced a spare bumper in metallic black (perfect match), but this is as far as I've got. The FR alloys are all fine. Parts you will need to finish:

- Starter motor

- Plastic front panel

- Radiator and fans

- Air-con rad

- Track rod

- Tyre

There is no further damage to the front wings, or other parts. If wanted, but not necessary, the honeycombe grills for the front bumper (see before and after) are about £5 each for the top ones, and £30 for the bottom one from Seat. The windscreen is also cracked, although I had planned to do this through insurance when the car was repaired. The bonnet was dented on the front corner when I bought the car, and I did an absolutely awful DIY repair! So you may want to sort that too.

I have been toying with my options on what to do with the car, and have come up with the following choices:

- Fix it with new/second hand parts. I would estimate the cost to be under £400, although I'm no expert.

- Break car (the aftermarket parts are worth a fortune on their own, engines sell on ebay for £600 (can prove), turbos are worth £200+, the 6-speed gearbox conversion etc. can be sold for £300+, Miltek £150+, brakes £250, pd160 intake £60, superpro mount £50, and the rest of the car!)

- Use engine/gearbox for conversion and break the rest. Very few people have done mk1/2 pd130 conversions.

- Put car back to standard (sell all expensive aftermarket bits) and sell as it is.

- Buy a spare car (older Ibiza tdi), use the parts to fix mine, and sell the rest as a conversion/break. If you had the time, this would be the best option. You could make money on the donor car, and fix mine for nothing. Could also put mine back to standard with bits from donor car and sell aftermarket bits on.

Unfortunately, I don't have very much free time, and a serious lack of space and motivation, so I have decided to try to sell it as it is.

I am now looking for £2100 ono. I know I could break it for more than this (Antee from another forum broke his pretty much standard one for over £3000; I can provide a spreadsheet of parts sales that he sent me if you wish). If it doesn't sell I will repair it and sell it on, however, I have purchased a new car now so would rather it went as soon as possible to be honest.

Compare it to an equivalent top spec mk4 Golf pd130! I would say you get much more for your money with the Seat.
