This problem happened twice yesterday and has started happening a lot today and after almost getting killed on an island i thought i better look into it sooner rather than later.

When changing gear (up or down) and going back on to the gas, the car does nothing and the revs go down as if i have not pressed the acceslorator at all. It is only until i come off and back on to the power when it picks up again.

Like i said this problem is intermittent at the moment and i did a vagcom read today and no engine fault codes.

There is no miss fire so I'm assuming no issues with ignition or fueling, its as if it hasnt registered that i have put my foot to the floor.

The GTi have an elecronic throttle body so i was thinking this would be the best place to start as well as the accelorator pedal sensor. (had the throttle body off a few months back for a clean and re-allignment so i know thats not clogged up). Was also going to look at MAF.

Any suggestions or common fault knowlege would be great.

Problem solved, faulty break light switch tricking the car into thinking it was breaking and cutting all power when accelorating.
