Done a search but couldnt quite find what i was looking for. Put a gt engine in the polo over the week end, ran fine through the rev range but seemed to stutter just as you put your foot down from idle, its had new leads plugs temp sensor ect but that didnt cure it.

and seems to run spot on now, but it doesn`t seem to pull as hard as it did, it might be worth noting at this point that it has a golf gti AFM and a chip fitted.

I got thinking today, and to get the timing marks to line up i have retarded the ignition, would this be undoing all the chips good work seeing as tho i have set it to a stock setting, or am i just being very anal.

I dont have a standard chip or ecu to hand to swap over an set the timing then swap back to the chip so any thoughts and advice would be very much appreciated.

If its not pinking you can advance it.

I've just put a standard abd in my polo. It runs relatively roughly cos I'm still using an aau chip lol (have a proper setup on the way). and also, like yours it is sort of jumpy under light throttle and at idle. Pretty sure its under-fuelling.

It may be the chip has got the arse and is backing off the fuelling.

Its most prbably just me being to anal, i know you can advance it till it starts pinking then back it off a bit, but i just like to know things are spot on lol.

I think I'm just going to advance it ever so slightly, i dont think its fuel related more timing, the golf gti AFM probably isn`t helping but its sweet in the higher revs, it was just at about 1100 it would splutter for a split second and then carry on as normal and it idled fine.

I was looking for more of a "oh at 2800 revs the timings should be 50 degrees advanced, ect" but looks like trail and error is going to be the key.

And no wonder its running rough, the bst match to that i would imagine would be an aav or a GT set up, as I'm 70% sure the abd ecu uses a different plug/loom (dont count me on it lol)
