I bought this GT in tornado red for the sum of 400

it has 209,000 on the clock ! and 4 months MOT

Here it is the body work was a bit faded when i bought it it had some rust on the bottom of the drivers door and starting to rust on the tail gate

So first things first things first new drivers door and tail gate

delivered in the back of my white MK3 :-)

These came to a massive 50 for the two with glass working wiper motor and heated rear screen, and lots of bits of wildlife lol. as you can probably notice they were massively faded so out with the T-cut and some Auto Glym super resin polish. i think they came out pretty well

The only fault with it really apart from me being picky about the body work was the fact the battery wouldn't keep charge. i got an alternator from my old AAU engine slapped it on a sorted its self right out :-) . got a brand new battery with it as the previous owner had thought this was the problem. How ever some one decided that they couldn't be bothered with Manuel windows and so installed some electric ones... need i say more, don't get me wrong they looked the business but they took longer than Pluto's orbit to move up and down, i swear i could have moved them faster with my mind. Thats not the best bit they came with chocolate block electrical connections and to top it off no fuse and wired to the CD player, they have got to go. however a job for another day.

now for the build list

- high lift cam shaft

- Skimmed, ported and polished head

- new cam followers, and valve springs

- new cam belt and alternator belt

- uprated water pump

- 8k chip

- all oil seals and gaskets (maybe piston rings need to do a compression test)

- Painted engine curtsy of loughborough university art students

- rear disc conversion bottom of the list

- 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and De-cat with full stainless system

- uprated 239mm brake discs braided hoses and the like

- 60/50 AP lowering kit

- poly bush kit

- sage 1/2 sub frame haven't decided yet

- full reconditioned trim and bumpers

- new gear knob not sure what so any ideas would be appreciated

- maybe a couple of molded subs in the back only small 8" or something

- reconditioned BBS RA's with decent rubber again any thoughts would be appreciated because I'm not sure what to go with as its low and it's gonna be stiff.

-also thinking of some mud flaps if anyone has them on some pics would be nice thanks

- then an air freshner and floor mats to finish it off

its alot to fit in 6 months but we will see what happens

i have much to do and at the moment I'm just trying to keep on top of money. so i intend to acquire all the parts and them fit them to the car nearer to the time i just want to focus on getting the body work sorted out at the moment. get it looking pretty and them make it go like hot snot :-).

what is de-wedging the throttle body what is done?? can you do this on 6n polos. stupid question this might be

the de-wedged part is on the butterfly its self there will be a small lump on the underside of the flap. this is then removed to give a more aggressive throttle response. its a G40 modification really it makes no difference on the GT as it is only on the smaller butterfly but i had to see why so many people had them turns out for nothing or at least nothing that i can tell.

as for the 6n i really have no idea but i presume it would only be effective on the valver and even then not a massive difference. the G40 i presume is because of the forced induction which the valever doesn't have.

TBH i'm not into 6n's so maybe someone else could help you :-D

yeah the number plate was one of the deciding factors its awesome need to get hold of some pressed metal ones from dub meister as soon as i get some form of tax/sorn reminder cos I'm not sending my log book

does affect GT's tbh, I've done it to 4 3f engines now and they all felt better to drive with better responce

Yeah it makes sweet fuck all difference at full throttle

I quite like the smoothness of the throttle response lower down in a GT.

i couldn't upload the newer pictures as they were too big so hopefully get some this week end or next on my phone so it can upload them. the plan consists of picking up the fogs fitting them then finishing off the the bumpers and arch trims so need to get hold of some spray paint. just need the right weather now :-).

The body work is going well i have started on the bumpers and trim i'll post some pics when there finished.

PPP got back to me and there are no more stage 1 sub frames left so i think the stage 2 will have to wait a bit there a bit pricey

managed to get some clear side repeaters on and finish off the trim, cleared out my old RA's and stuck them on the front. Just need a pin stripe for the rear and the clean RA'S on the back.

frnt bumper needs a clean dirty hands from refitting on my one never again lol ball ache :-D

did a great job on those doors, looking good.

Fogs really set the front of nicely.

standard Gearnob is a hard leather one with a plastic insert with chrome letters inside the plastic if you want to make it OEM. alot of people run the MK2 golf ones which are fake rubbery leather (kind of squidgy) and have a plastic and grey insert, as it looks almost identical.

chears mate i quite like the mk2 golf one thinking of putting one in. :-)

i payed 25 a tyre which i did quite well getting! working in a garage has its perks i guess haha
