got the alternator built up and ready to go on, just waiting for half an hour when (a) i'm not at work, and (b) it's not raining, snowing or hailing haha.

if you're putting the fact underneath for neatness, you can always put it in the scuttle tray where it'll probably last longer and easier to get to.

closer to the tank the better apparently as they wont run dry as much. mine is in my engine bay and is always dry for the first second or two

aye true, personal preference i guess, mine's on the inner wing and also runs dry, but i'd rather it be there where i can see it.

you'd have to be running it dry for an extended period of time to cause any friction triggered damage though.

yeh just for neatness.. i was going to run it in the scuttle but wasnt feeling drilling holes in the firewall... and if it is better for the pump i will ru it underneath by the tank... what would you say is the best way to mount it.. self tapping screws :)?

self tappers will be easiest, i dont know if you can get a nut/bolt combo underneath, but that would hold it better, especially if putting it on thin walled section.

you could possibly rivet it too.

I've mounted mine in the scuttle, next to where the battery sits. Didn't drill the for wall, as it sits on the side. Had to remove the outer wing though. Check my thread if you want to go that way

I've seen the way you did it prankstar, how do you get the pipes from the scuttle into the carbs? did you have to drill the fire wall more?

Just sorting that now! There's enough gromets and holes already, so hoping to use one of these. Just wiring and cabling up the bay now, so i'll see what's available for use. I've re-routed a lot of my wiring though, so I'm expecting a few spares!

cool man, i just ran cables through the back of the car ready to mount it underneath... i noticed there is a gromit ontop of the fuel tank under the rearr bench so that should be easier... just need to fix it to the bottom now :) p.s i do love you loon :)

500 to buy and works out to be about 1500 for insurance :/ not too bad really...

cheers man :) sorted the T piece out, going to make a new gasket for the carbs and bolt the wheels up then it can be taken off the axle stands.. then need to mount the pump underneath and hope fully that will be all :)..

i have been thinking about running a slim line fan and removing the huge cowling and original fan, this will also help when i run the 4-2-1...

need to get the alternator bracket plate sorted too...

so the valver is in and is turning over but will not start.. there is fuel and a spark so all i can think of is spark and timing?.. am i correct in thinking that the firing order is 1-3-4-2 in an anti clockwise direction? at the moment it is currently backfire a lot through the carbs and every now and then a very very load backfire through the exhaust.. can you please give any info on what I'm doing wrong, or explain your timing set up :)
