It will be a lot of work, sure not as much work as say a 1.8T, but still a lot of work. So if you 'cba' with too much work, forget it. The only way around that is to pay someone else to do it.

I would be willing to do the build myself tbh, i just want to source 100% of the parts before i start tho. because i dont think it would be too hard to put it all together if i had all the stuff. I'm pretty handy with a toolbox anyways. just not sure what i would need :?

philj sells the manifold and downpipe to fit a turbo to a 8v block...so thats a start

I need to write a list of every bit i need and tick it off as i buy it all over a couple months.

Its either turbo or the 1.6 16v gti conversion.

much power difference between them? Surely a 1.4 8v turbo would only be bout 130bhp? Couldnt be more than that could it?

tommo got 200bhp from his 1,4 8v turbo

Ahh, that was an impressive beasty!

I remember at the RR day there were some 'chinese whispers' about the work he'd done to the engine, from no work, to stacked head gaskets, to spacer plates etc. In truth he'd done some serious homework and turned the pistons down a carefully calculated amount, built most of the setup himself and tuned the carb & ignition himself. All with the comedy knock-detecting ear defenders! Well, they worked!

Again, very impressive indeed.

You'll need

Turbo

Manifold

Tb

Injection system

Ignition system

Custom remap

Lower compression pistons/ head gasket decomp plate

Intercooler

Boost piping

Loads more I'm sure

It's going to be a lot of work tbh.

oil divert for lubricating the turbo, oil radiator, upsized oil system, increased cooling system

This seems like it is gonna be a while to get all them parts, With the fitting, i will do it myself with my mate from vw so shouldnt be too hard. more time consuming id expect. i dont think it would be all dont for a good few months tho :(

Big job, i am undergoing a 20v with mine. I was lucky and picked up a 20v engine box, ecu clocks loom and keys for £500 still need plenty of bit's thou.

I would do a 20vt but i would kill myself in it on the 1st day lol, or run out of money for fuel in a few hours... Bit of a lead foot

I think i will have to just gather all the parts for the turbo conversion over months and in the meantime just get it cammed, 4-2-1 with a decat and straight through. should do the job for the time being.

Like i said in another post, with my old polo 1.4 8v i used to mucnch loads of vtrs and Corsa gsi all day long. When your that low, you can hit the roundabouts at ridiculous speeds :-D

You won't kill a Saxo vtr in the straights or bends with a lump of shit 8v polo a vtr will easily out handle & out perform it infact it would kill it all the time

I spend far too much time on facebook, as my initial reaction was to "like" that post.

In all honesty, from what you've said in your posts I think you need to do a huge amount of research before embarking on such a project, look into what you need to do regarding compression, oil cooling etc. turbo-ing a N/A engine is an awful lot of work, I contemplated super charging my AEE, but in the end decided to just build a nice, cammed, bike carbed, and a few other bits and bobs AFH and drop that in, its still alot of work (and an awful lot of money) but nothing like turbo-ing...

Its worth considering if you really love your car enough to spend the time and money on it without getting bored halfway through, as you will never re-coupe what you have spent.

Let's face it, you're a dreamer. I'd like to be proven otherwise though.

Just because your 'mate' works for VW doesn't mean he's gonna know how to bolt on a turbo to a polo engine.

If you're serious about it I'd go and do some research then come back here when you're starting a build thread!

For the record, I did in my other polo... which had the 4-2-1 and a cam, stripped and on the floor. And i did out handle too. But okay, say what you like...

Must just be down to the driver :-)

depends on the driver more i'd say if they're a pussy of course they'll get merked in the corners.

I dont a v8 merc on round a roundabout needless to say he was probley afaraid of ditchin his 70k merc into the railins

When I was on the Briskoda forums someone was doing a Fabia 1.4 turbo and apparently then TSR do a turbo kit for that engine.

Dunno how much it was and if which 1.4 engine it was but know it was mentioned.

For the record - your mate cant drive or your just an idiot  Iv had 2 6ns and now drive a 106, the 106 will munch a 6n around bends all day long - and theres no way that with a cam and 4-2-1 you got more than 100bhp  Stop dreaming and just save up for a 16v tbh.....

Fitting a turbo sounds easy in theory, just got to lower the compression etc. etc. But I think it is a LOT more work than you think!

You did a merc? Were you racing? Seriously, he probably didn't know that you were 'racing' him. I overtook a 911 once around some country roads, but I wouldn't say my mk2 is better than a 911.

What is it with people thinking these polo's are amazing? They are mostly shit compared to the equivalent citreon, pug, ford etc. but they have character, which is what attracts me. Plus the history of the marque is interesting.

I dont think polo's are better than any other car, but i do love em. And i dont think mine did have more than 100bhp, i think it was less than that tbf lol :( Bout 90 or something. All i had in it was 2 seats tho, nothing else, no interior or door cards. so it was pretty light as cars go... All I'm saying is that i personally beat a few vtrs in MY polo, the way i drive. granted, if i was to be driving the vtr, my polo would have been spanked... So its not what you drive, its how you drive...

Where about can you get an intercooler and a better manifold for a 6n 1.4 8v polo

you dont need an intercooler for a standard 8v polo and if your wanting a better manifold then get a 4-2-1 stainless steel one

talk about thread resurection lol this quy was an absolute dreamer in the first place and if he drives like he said he did then hes a tool too
