Woody's shortened 6n

Featured Replies

So I finally got my first car yesterday after waiting 8 months and it already had some small mods to it that I already had planned for when I got one so was quite a nice find! Its been lowered about 40mm, 6n2 steering wheel, debadged grill and boot, clear front repeaters, steels sprayed blue, de-wipered and smoked rears.

The garage I bought the car from gave me the MOT certificate but i was told that there were no advisories so I just thought I'd check when i got home. By checking the history I found that I had advisories for:

Front both sides Front suspension has slight movement at a wishbone pin or bush

Rear Axle beam has slight vertical movement between stub axle and axle beam

Rear Service brake Your vehicle has only just met the required service brake efficiency. It would appear that the braking system requires adjustment or repair.

Nearside Rear Parking brake Your vehicle has only just met the required park brake efficiency. It would appear that the braking system requires adjustment or repair.

Exhaust emits blue smoke during acceleration

I also found that the one key i was given doesnt fit the tailgate lock so am going to need a new one of those too :doubt:

Does anyone know if these are easy fixes and roughly how much its going to cost me?

So the plans for the near future..

Gloss black steels (already got a swap lined up)

gloss black mud flaps

16v kit

exhaust

induction kit

6n2 rear lights (maybe)

coilovers

I'll eventually be going matte white and get dished alloys with the centres sprayed purple

More pictures to come soon, comments appreciated.

Looks good for your first car mate, too bad about the advisories though :(

Got any pictures of the interior, I'd like to see the 6n2 steering wheel?

I'll try get a couple of pictures up for you tomorrow mate, you can probably find someone with one on a thread though, or in the mark 5 builds

Yeah I know what they look like, just never seen one in a mk4.

if i were you i'd play hell with the garage. they've obviously broken a few laws there by not giving you the advisories!

looks to be a decent enough car though, nicely styled.

Also got the boot working today :)

Do you know if the 6n2 wheel is a straight fit?

As far as I'm aware its a straight swap and looking through some threads appears to be simple too. Just keep an eye on the following links for more information.

You might not be able to wire the airbag up depending on whether you have one now or not but dont think you should come across any other problems.

Looking good mate!

Look forward to seeing what you got in store for us :-D

So after finally getting a £2500 loan for insurance and getting tax I couldnt wait to hit the roads! was pretty nervous as it had been 8 months but thats surely expected.

anyway, 10 miles later I decided to do this...

Running mad camber!

so I'm now £3000 down, with a bill heading my way to repair the barrier I hit it looks like my driving career is short lived.

Luckily nobody else was involved and the only injury being a cut on a mates finger from where he hit the headunit was extremely lucky!

Friday 13th is lucky for some...but definately not for me.

R.I.P :crybaby:

How the f**k did you do tht?

glad no1 got hurt mate looks pretty bad how did it happen? friday 13th curse got me too my clutch cable snapped bit of a cheaper fix than yours like lol

was checking my mirror to come back infront of a cyclist then noticed i was close to the verge so steered away n the back wheel must have clipped the verge n i skidded across the bypass came back across into the barrier n skidded 360degrees another 50meters

are they your skid marks in the back ground?

my mk3 looked pritty much the same as that when i hit the same sort of barrier, hardly any impact, but going sideways into it sliced the front off.

Just think if the car wasnt lowered you probably would have bounced of the barrier rather than tucked under it

glad your all ok, You might need to use you insurance to cover the barrier costs, they dont come cheap, unless youve already had a quote?

yeah maybe man.

yeah I've been told they're not cheap, I'm just gonna see if i get the bill n find some way to pay for it so i dont have to claim, if i claim I'm probably gonna be off the roads for years

that wont stop me gettin a car n moddin it tho, il just get a few days insurance here n there for shows n that

At least every one was ok and you've got some impressive pics to show your mates, trust me you'll be laughing about this in the not too distant future. It might feel like the end of the world now but its only a car which can easily be replaced
