At least every one was ok and you've got some impressive pics to show your mates, trust me you'll be laughing about this in the not too distant future. It might feel like the end of the world now but its only a car which can easily be replaced

Yeah, tbh I've taken it pretty well, i dont even remember what it was like to drive cos i was in it for such a short time, i haven't been drivin for 8 months so its just an inconvenience really that i had a car n now i dont. the car might be replaceable but I'm not looking forward to finding out how much the barrier is going to cost.

got to ask, how fast were you actually going???

I was only doing 60 mate on the bypass with a 70mph speed limit.

I went back today to look at what happened, found that I'd skidded and span a lot further than i first thought, there was about a 100yard gap between where i went onto a verge completely (which i dont recall) and where i hit the barrier.

my mk3 looked pritty much the same as that when i hit the same sort of barrier, hardly any impact, but going sideways into it sliced the front off.

Just think if the car wasnt lowered you probably would have bounced of the barrier rather than tucked under it

glad your all ok, You might need to use you insurance to cover the barrier costs, they dont come cheap, unless youve already had a quote?

How much was the cost of the barrier you had to replace? I'm thinkin of cancelling my insurance and payin for the bill myself but if its more than £1500 i doubt i can afford it :-(

Definately not!

Already looking to be driving by summer, planning on getting a 6n2 but will go with a smaller engine this time i think, if a car ended up like that from going 60 i dont want to imagine what could have happened if i was going any faster!

Holy cow! Must be so gutted! Glad everyone was ok though!

Looking at the title i was like :o no way a shortnd polo then I've just seen the pics.

At least your okay buddy , I was gutted when my slammed 6n went but mine was just dangerous.

Good luck !

Yeah very good shout! although i was only doing 60. i didnt realise crashing was so easy to do, definately taking it easier next time n get a bit of practice in!

Standard Rowe looking like a mong :p

Worlds shortest build thread?

Glad everyone's ok though.

BTW you do have 14 days to cancel your insurance policy as long as you haven't made a claim I think but don't quote me on that :?

Anyway glad everyone was ok

Was that on the new road from LB towards Bletchley? if it is I nearly had an off on that road a few weeks ago for no apparent reason, there was a bit of dip/compression in the road and as I came out of it the back end went all light and stepped out a bit, but I was able to hold it, still made the old ring piece go !!

glad you are all OK metal can be replaced bones, tissue and organs are a bit more tricky!!

Yeah thats the one mate, where you can turn right for MK or go straight over to lakes estate.

I think what I'm going to do is make the claim when i get the receipt as I've heard they are very expensive and i will not be able to afford; however if it is affordable i'll just cancel the insurance and get my money back.

When i then get round to buying my 1litre 6n2 il buy 2 day insurance and do pass plus as it will give me a chance to get used to the car and itl also lower my insurance :-) and as i can now save between £200-£300 a month so should have the money in no time :D

Ofcourse thats just looking on the brightside and as my luck has not been on my side, I'm still expecting the worst!

Bro, this is a killer...

I did something simmilar to my old corsa, someone pulled out of the hardshoulder of the M6 when i was going down, Didnt even look, so i had to slam on at 65. Shit hit the fan, Luckily it was only me in the car though, and the impact was my passenger side (decided to go face first into the corner of a junction )

Could be worse, I was in hospital for about 9 hours, But only got concussion and a fractured wrist, so i count my blessings there,

But you will look back on it and laugh, I do, Coz it's not something everyones done,

Keep your head up man, will be a nice story to tell your grandkids haha :p

i know how gutting the feeling is of crashing a car.. i hit a curb on the way out of a roundabout sideways at about 60 in my old mini and ripped off the rear subframe.. but that was due to me driving like a idiot really but we all need to get it out of ourselves before its too late and thankfully it made me learn my lesson and nobody was hurt at all. worst thing was the fact that the convenience of having a car was now gone and i was down about 3k.. hope it all gets sorted !!

i cant belive it cost u 2500 to get your self on the road, my insurance was only £1300 in my 1st year on an 8v like yours :( and unlucky mate i know how u feel mine ended up lloking like that but i had no barrier to hit i had 2 trees and i wasent doing 60 :( my chassie leg as in the glove box
