I've been driving for a fair few years but have never really questioned these 'things' before, kinda just accept them but most of you I'm sure will be familiar with them

Firstly, why do people insist on going jogging or walking ON the road? I regularly meet people coming towards me on foot whilst I`m driving. Last week I saw a couple walking a dog on the road, on the other side of the road there was a grass verge and a well worn footpath on it. Joggers, surely you can find somewhere like a park to jog? Bit safer is`nt it

I drive a works van which is fitted with a speed limiter of 62 mph. Yes this is pathetic but not my choice. If I`m in the middle lane overtaking a number of lorries I`ll have a car sit right behind me, one of those people that will sit behind you for probably ten miles instead of use the empty third lane. When I pull back into the slow lane they come past at about 80mph, why did'nt they just use the fast lane? It was empty

Baby on Board signs in car windows. What's the deal with these signs? Okay there is a baby on board the car, now what? Does the driver expect other drivers to drive differently because they have a baby in the car, that`s ridiculous. Out on the road nobody gives a fcuk about anybody but themselves

Horse riders. I do alot of mountain biking, off road wherever possible as I don`t like the tarmac. I never, ever see people riding horses thru the woods and fields I go thru and I go thru alot. Why is it that horse riders insist on riding the horse on the road? Surely the horse would prefer to be on grass opposed to tarmac

There is also the car drivers that travel on the motorway slower than lorries. This should be an instant 3 points and a £60 fine. They force the lorries to overtake them, a truck won`t put up with anything slower than it. Anybody on the motorway bar HGV`s moving below 60mph should be fined and given points

If anybody has got anything to add that annoys them or can enlighten me on any of the above I`m all ears

Another one is the person who pulls out onto the road and forces you to slow up or go into the back of them. The reason for this I know though, it`s because they can`t judge speed or distance. I say to myself when I see somebody at a junction, it would be stupid of them to pull out but expect them to anyway, often they do

Wow i never thought about that before. There are so many idiots on the road i just stopped noticing! :x

A gripe i have is caravaners, why do they go so slowly as there is no need! Its not like it will turn over and spill all of there belongings all over the road at the slightest hint of a corner.

I've been on many caravan holidays since i was young and i know when a van is loaded correctly you can take corners almost as fast as a car on its own!

which brings me to another point why do they drive so slowly on motorways I know the limit is 60 but i've seen them go as slow as 45 on a sunny day with no side winds just loads of angry truckers overtaking them causing the traffic in the middle lane to slow down and start breaking. Which is the main cause of traffic jams! Eventually they arrive at their site oblivious to the chaos they just caused!

Idiots on motorways too scared to overtake the Police car doing 60mph in the inside lane at any decent speed (70mph), instead doing 61mph and blocking the middle lane creating all sorts of chaos behind as 2-3 lanes funnel into the outside lane to get past the Police car.

Oh, and the general behaviour of a large group of drivers when someone's being a tool in the middle lane doing 65mph - all three lanes get packed with cars ~1 car-length apart. Cluster f*ck.

Horse riders. I do alot of mountain biking, off road wherever possible as I don`t like the tarmac. I never, ever see people riding horses thru the woods and fields I go thru and I go thru alot. i fucking hate horse riders with a passion, yes i drive a loud car, i pay a lot of fucking money to drive that car on the road so keep your evil glare to yourself or if you don't like it fuck off and ride you big slab of burger meat in a fucking field

on sunday on the way to stanford i had to go passed two horse riders riding side by fucking side taking up the whole lane. so because they wanted to talk to each other about which stable boy rode the fuck out f them this week i have to either drive behind at 5mph or drive fully on the wrong side of the road to over take which isn't fun on a twisty country lane and it's not like i can even give it a bit of beans to get past quicker because the dumb fucking animal might shit a brick and jump in front of my car.

way i see it pay tax or fuck off, yes horses were here before car's, and field's were here before roads so fuck off and use them you arrogant fucking twats.

people cutting me up, driving like nobs, driving at well below the speed limit, all of these things annoy me but i know that they are at least paying the same as me to use these road, horse riders on the other hand can fuck off :disgust:

the ironic thing is i have a slow down for horses sticker in my back window

People who don't look when pulling out. I've had two accidents because of this and so many near shitting myself moments. I used to ride a bike and got used to it, now I drive a bright orange Transit van - and they still do it!

People on push bikes on the footpath, that then suddenly dart onto the road so as you have to wait for them at a junction

Or not, as my mate once pulled out to have the old idiot go straight into the side of his car. We both saw he was on the footpath at 1st.

whats worse, before we had even got out of the car (this isnt a joke btw) he had got up, had a pen and note pad out writing the details of the car down. what the actual fuck, i felt like lamping him one. Took us less than 1 min to pull out of the way and get out the car, and he was on the case instantly. He claimed various injurys etc, yet he was perfectly fine, could walk and wasn't a scratch on him other than his hand.

My mate had been driving like 2 days, went on his insurance and has only just cleared the claim from his insurance. Causing it to go sky high.

I'm convinced he did it on purpose for a tidy payout. He had time to stop and plenty of space to turn (roads were empty all around)

way i see it pay tax or fuck off, yes horses were here before car's, and field's were here before roads so fuck off and use them you arrogant fucking twats.

Best quote ever.

So true though, really does annoy me, especially when they shit in the middle of the road and you have to swerve to avoid smearing shit along the bottom of your car. Surely they should be made to get off and pick it up eh? Get fined for dog's shitting in roads and pavements, but horses seem to be able to do 100x the shit and be allowed to do so?!

Bleh. Also had an old guy not look, pull out of a junction as i was passing him..how he did not see me i will never know..must have been mm's away...

all i can say is............try driving in Bradford, if you blink, you're fucked.

All of England is ok, Go to France/Belgium. You will come back with a weaker heart.

Used to ride bikes before i got car so have much hate for selfish narrow minded fucks, but what really pissed me off atm is people doing waaaaaay below the speed limit, was behind a woman the other day, she was doing 15 in a 40, braking at every given oppertunity, round a bend, up a slight incline , when a car came towards her, these people should not be on the road.

Another one is power tripping shit bag cyclists, the type who will bang on the windows of women with kids in the car or elderly people trying to intimidate them, but they wont do it to some one who they know will have a go back, even if they are in the wrong, spineless twats.

Baby on Board signs in car windows. What's the deal with these signs? Okay there is a baby on board the car, now what? Does the driver expect other drivers to drive differently because they have a baby in the car, that`s ridiculous. Out on the road nobody gives a fcuk about anybody but themselves

I'm sure i read somewhere these originated in America, to let the emergency services know to look for a baby at the scene of a crash, i.e thrown out the car or jambed in the footwell, should that mean then if there is no baby in the car the sign should be in the glove box ?, probably.

i had to go passed two horse riders riding side by fucking side taking up the whole lane. so because they wanted to talk to each other about which stable boy rode the fuck out f them this week i have to either drive behind at 5mph or drive fully on the wrong side of the road to over take which isn't fun on a twisty country lane and it's not like i can even give it a bit of beans to get past quicker because the dumb fucking animal might shit a brick and jump in front of my car.

I really hate those twatting horse riders, a one and a half lane road is not the place for your menapause comparison meeting. There's a riding school just up the road from me, I wish they'd take take the little sh*ts out in the fields. Or just buy them an xbox for f*cks sake?!

horse riders do take the piss, and also they should take a bin liner with them, ready to scoop up the fat turd that drops to floor rather than let it sit there untill a vehicle ploughs through it

if my dog shits on the pavement I'm faced with a fine for non collection, but ok if one falls from a horses bot?

my dogs going to leave a squit on the pavement in protest later

Pensioners. Old bint caused me to write off my beloved c90, by changing lanes without indicating. Or looking. But as a general rule, whenever i nearly kill myself its due to a fucking blue rinse bobbing about above the steering wheel. I seriously think there should be a requirement to have your driving assessed every few years, especially with the vast difference in testing over the past 60 years or so.

are you guys serious?

I can not believe how stupid you all look with your ignorant comments.

Demanding horses should not be on the road, they are on the road, and catered for in the highway code.

All that is needed is a bit of thoughtfulness, its not a lot to ask you to observe the Highway Code which is, after all, the law, not just a whim.

Even if you disagree with the fact that horses are allowed on our roads, do not take it out on them - the riders are there by choice, the horses are not, they go where they are ridden.

and i see the old road tax line comes in there again

I'm sure the riders would pay road tax for their horse if it was inline with how much they actually use the road, they use it for the same reason that most road users do, to get from alpha to bravo. Alpha being say the stables, Bravo being the bridleway disjointed by a road. They dont do it to annoy road users. And yes, to be honest i do think horses on a main road are a bad idea but unfortunately they can't ride silly nilly over fields and footpaths as many think they can. Horses are considered by transport law to still be a mode of transport therefore on the roads, so instead of complaining at riders who like the situation less that you do why not try and not be such a crying baby.

I'd like to agree with you but they don't work like that.

My parents place is on a fast single carriageway a-road. Down the road from them's a riding school. Behind that's a lane going to a bridleway (clues in the name) that you can go for 10 miles on, barely touching a road. In the opposite direction is a lane to the beach. So obviously, they go for a ride up the main road.

There`s a 60mph road near me, quite often I come across somebody driving at around 45mph. Last week I got stuck behind an old couple in a Prius doing 38mph on this road. I waited until it was clear, overtook them and then slowed down to 30mph for the next mile

4x4`s are as bad as horse riders. Use the damn thing for it`s purpose, get it off the road and tow some heavy 5hit around a field

Before you start getting personal and branding people 'cry babys' for complaining about some thing that they don't agree with on the internet, maybe you should look at your past record on doing the same first? You're hardly a stranger to complaining about stuff you don't agree with on the internet are you?

There are such a thing as horse boxes, they are a much safer way of transporting a horse from alpha to bravo, and some times horse riders do ride the horses on the road to just to for a ride, a girl I used to go out with used to do it all the time and so did her horse riding mates.

So what if they are covered in the highway code? It doesn't make them any less of a menace on the roads, have you ever seen the aftermath of a horse bolting in traffic? One did it in earl shilton years back and wrote off about 4 years, one of which finally killed it although it put itself through the windscreen badly injuring the people in the car first.

Also as mentioned, horse shit. If your gonna take your animal on the road then have the decency to clean up after you, you can't let you dog shit in public these days without cleaning it up so why should a horse be any different?

Your sure that horse riders would pay tax if it was inline with how much they use the roads? I bet they would, just like I'd like to pay inline with how much I use my car on the road as in a normal week I probably only do 20-30 miles between the two cars, but unfortunately I still have to pay for 12 months x2

And I do abide by the highway code, I slow down for them, I put it in a higher gear to reduce engine noise and I turn my stereo down, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with them being there. Even more so when them riding two abreast on a tight winding country lane is hardly being considerate to other road users is it? consideration works both ways.

can't say I've ever had any cause to be bothered by horses on roads. If you want to ban anything from the roads that has caused an accident at some point then there'll be nothing left on the roads.

What annoys me on the road is:

- young lads in modified cars. Often seen driving about like total dicks taking lots of unnecessary risks in horrible little cars with farty exhausts and some god-awful music banging out at full blast from some cheapo 15" sub.

- "king of the road" sales rep type people usually in some BMW or Audi company car they couldn't give a toss about. No matter what they are doing, it's always you in the wrong.

it wasnt personal, but it is the logic behind some of the posts here.

Telling them to put their horse in a horse box? again that is a silly idea, why not just use the road? horse boxes are slow aswell, and a bigger "annoyance" to get around.

So one record of a horse bolting, therefore ban them completely. I have heard more stories of bikes, humans causing accidents in the road, shall we ban them too?

which also leads to the horse shit issue, so you are riding your horse it takes a shit (which looking in you rear view horse shit mirror you will see) then stop at the side of the road, and say tie it to a fence? or hold it while you then proceed to scoop it up, in the middle of the road, causing another "annoyance" for you to complain about?

Horse shit goes within a day at least, in my years of driving and riding i have never had an issue with it, but bare in mind there are loads more obstacles in the road to worry about, dead animals, stones bricks, items that fall off cars, shall we ban all that too?

Yeah you are right about the 2 abreast thing, i agree but it just seems people in here seem to think they have a dictator right to be on the road, end of the day if you feel so strongly about them being on the road and an issue, write to your local mp.

joggers ...I'm better than you , you will move out of my way , inconsiderate types

horses ..yeah I'm sure the horse would much rather be down some nice lane and not being scared by all the cars ...also how come any kids can ride em about , yet a young lad that wants a moped has to have a liecense and pay the earth to insure it..agreed on the shit comment too

baby on board ...look at me I'm sooooo chuffed with our baby i have to tell the whole world , accidents are just that , no one is going to think ok then i wont roar you up the back because i noticed the sign

horse riders i smashed my car up for those fucking things through a lane, there was 3 side by side i was comming around a corner about 25 30mph and had to hedge my car or i would of killed them, yet they just gave me the look you shouldnt of been going so fast.they should be in a field and stay there(sorry horse owners)

also people who dont use your fucking idcators it fucking annoying on a roundabouts. how much effort is it to move your finger you use them....

also when people push you through a 30 yet when you get out of it and it a 60 you give i a bit there no where to be seen!!

last one when i used to ride my bike people would use the winder washer knowing i behind them and squirt it in my face.

other than that it aint too bad :-D

I think at the very least riders should have to pay some rate of tax to use the roads (after all cleaning up horse shit costs), they should be insured incase any thing does go pear shaped, and they should have to pass some kind of proficiency test because atm any one no matter how inexperienced or unfamiliar with the highway code can ride a horse on the road which is crazy imo.

Plus any horses riders acting like nobs should he brought to book just like every one else.

And I wasn't using the horse causing an accident story as a reason why they should be banned, but as a testament to how dangerous they can be.

Pretty sure the sh!tting on the road horse vs dog argument is invalid. Horse sh!t is just hay and fertilises the ground, Dog sh!t is poisonous hence being forced to pick up and dispose of? Cleaning up horse sh!t?? no one does that, not even the council, give it a day or so and some rain and the shit vanishes. I really don't see horses as a big problem what so ever... they just don't get in the way enough or slow me down long enough to be arsed complaining.

As for the comment in the first post about baby on board signs. I have 3 young nephews and a niece, 2 of which below 12 months old. If i see a baby on board sign i'll take extra care, I'll even give myself extra distance then usual behind, just in case. I'm not a mind reader, you never know what could happen really do you??

Edited by Liquidice

Since when does a road need fertilising? Since when does my car need fertilising because it wasn't safe to avoid the massive pile of shit in the road? That's why it doesn't need to he cleaned up, because before any bothers its been ran over by cars that couldn't avoid it who then have to pay to get it cleaned off there cars.

And what does it matter what its made of? It's still shit, its been eaten, digested and forced out of an anus, shit is shit. If I turn vegetarian does that mean you wouldn't mind me coming and shitting on your garden path?
