Hi i have a 1.0 8v and was looking to get bigger brakes on the front as will be having a bigger engine in the summer these are my wheel specs that i know.

4x100 14 inch 8J with a centre bore of 57.1

Not sure on the offset, however the rear of the wheel measures 11.5cm from centre to the rear, and then from the middle to the front of the rim is 10cm.

If i can get bigger brakes could you let me know which parts i would need to purchase?

i was able to run my standard brakes on 13's with about 1mm of room but these wheels are no where near as close do 1.4 16v have bigger brakes?

16V brakes are 256mm and they will fit under 14"s and they are bigger than your standard ones. If you wanted to go to 280mm g60 brakes they won't fit under 14"s, hope that helps

Ok thanks a lot for that do you know which parts i would need to convert my 8v to 16v brakes?

16v calipers, pads and discs i think - i dont know if the master cyclinder is bigger tho which would also help.

I remember walshy's 20vt ran 14s, but he spent a lot on custom wilwoods iirc

you can fit are 256mm discs with lucas 54 calipers, 270mm discs with vw2 calipers (with the appropriate adaptors and discs) or run wilwoods or similar 4 pots.

clearance of wheels will be an issue dependant on the design of the wheel, they may need spacing out.

I have 175bhp and I run 239mm stoppers..
