CO-OP Insurance

Featured Replies

Hi all..

bit of a god send really when i rang up to insure my polo (after a quote of £3400) and Co-Op said they accept 1 years Bike/Scooter insurance.

Got it down to £2265!! on my own policy fully comp.

Just thought i'd put it on here to let the young people know as quite a few these days have Peds.

good news is.. they also cover you third party on any other vehicle (even at 17!)

Spread the word and help fellow dubbers save some money!!

I'm not sure to be honest.. worth a try though.

they're cheaper than any one else i tried by far!!

Yeah I'm insured on co op policy

Used my ped no years claims

Dads the main driver I'm named driver = £700 ( around that can't remember lol)

Awesome if you invested in a hair dryer look whos laughing now (to mates who turned there noses at my ped) :)

This is good news, I've got a Dt50 sat in the garage , completely fucked. will have a years NCD in september!

I'm with co-op with 1 years bike and 1 years car and I'm paying 1900 on a mk4 with g40 conversian

beat pretty much any car on accelleration to around 45-50 too ;)

yeh there really good mate but read it again it say you dont have the provision to drive others thrid party

sorry to pop the bubble kiddah

I'm sure you do with Co-op, even at your age? Friend is insured with them..

Do they insure modified cars?

Didn't when I was insured with them last year...

it says on my policy that i can drive any insured vehicle thrid party for S,D&P use. not including picking a vehicle which has been impounded by the police.

and I'm not allowed to drive vehicles insured for business purposes. i already rang up to make sure as i drove my dads van to go and get some parts.

Po*Low* was done for this by the police as he drove his 6n2 under the third party on any other vehicle with co-op (has a 6n as other car which he's insured under). Insurance company said that only people over 21 can drive third party on any other car..he ended up going through solicitors and it didn't say that in the paper work iirc...basically it's a big ball ache.

Definatly checking up on this! Insurance is a bugger! Cheers for the post!

if it's any thing like my insurance the car you are driving also has to be insured by some one and you have to have their permission. iirc polow just assumed it meant he could jusm in any car and be insured on it, which he did and then got done (possibly banned?) because he was driving a car with no insurance.

well worth phoning and finding out the crack properly to cover your back after all it's your license your risking

I'm not sure to be honest.. worth a try though.

isn't that a modified car in your avatar? :?

and i'm pretty sure that putting your dad as a main driver and you as a named when it's your car is fronting? no wonder your getting it so cheap

Dunno what happened to Po*Low*... doesn't come on here anymore I don't think lol

And yeah, don't front your insurance either....might go well for a while but things have a way of coming around and kicking you up the arse, not worth the trouble bud, just put your parents/guardians on as named drivers...is what I do ;d

i think what po*low did was, pay the policy for his mum on his second car, and then tried using the 'drive any car' bit. Effectively getting insured on a second (third?) car for a lot less than it would for a policy on his own. Pretty clever , til it didnt work.

I know that's not technically legal, but how did he get done for it? Surely he just said it was his mums car?

Yea, but they rang the insurers and they said hes not covered to drive other vehicles. Hense the whole kerfuffle. Think he was with co-op not sure though.

I'm the policy holder on mine, my dad is just a named driver as it brought it down 80 quid

Generally it's just the policyholder that can drive other cars, not named drivers.

The perils of coverring.

Just to confirm, I've been on the phone to them today to confirm it and there is no age limit. but only the policy holder is covered third party on any other motor vehicle. including vans and mopeds (as long as they have an outstanding CBT)

  • 2 weeks later...

brother is just about to find out if they do the same for van's (Accept bike no-claims) :) Thanks for the heads up! :) He spent 2 years (sort of when it wasnt in the garage) close on 18k miles on a silly 125 so hopefully he will save some pennnys this time around on his mk2 golf.
