Rat Polo VR6 Custom Build

Model: 2002 VW Polo S

Engine: 1.2 in-line 3 originally, now 2.8 VR6, Cone Air intake with Straight Through into Cherry Bomb exhaust

Suspension: Coilovers All Round, Lowered... Lots! (Too low originally, failed MOT on being too low )

Brakes: GT TDi front hubs to take the 312mm front brakes setup, Fabia VRs Rear Disc conversion. Mintex Pads & Discs all round.

Wheels and Tyres: 16" VW Contour Alloys with 215 / 40 / 16 Eagle F1's up front and 225 / 45 / 16's on the back.

Exterior Styling: Front smoothed Bumper with VW Lower spoiler, VW Side Skirts, VW Rear Roof Spoiler (Well, half of it anyway!!! - 140MPH decided to rip HALF of it off ), VW Rear Lower Spoiler on smoothed bumper, Special Edition "Nitromors" Bonnet

Interior Styling: DVD Player with Freeview TV, CD, lots of Gizmos on it that's I'm still learning how to use lol!

ICE and Security: Ice, well, My Sound entertainment exits out of the exhaust

Well, I bought her 4 and a half years ago, as a 1.2S, 41K miles on it. Over the next 3 years, she proved her utter unreliability of the 1.2 engine and management system, by eventually burning out at 100K miles, with the following "Faults": 2 Badly burned out exhaust valves, Bottom end knocking on the 3rd cylinder, 3rd Gear no longer existed, Huge oil consumption, Very loud knocking coming from gearbox :s

Other than that she wasn't too bad! So I thought, time to replace the engine.

So many people told me to go 1.8T, but nooo I wanted that 6 pot Burbling Roar of the VR engine!

So I set myself to it! Stripped down the 1.2 engine, got on with making the VR fit in that engine bay :)

fairplay for doing it but it would have been a lot easier to use a mk4 2.8 v6 lump.

have you managed to get the rev counter / oil and temp working on the clocks?

ummmm well I will get vids & pics this week end at Santa Pod (Bug Jam) as I'll be going up the strip, but only if i can get this gearbox in, as it spat its diff out yesterday gearbox already sourced hahaha

I could have gone 24v but already had the engine and loom n running gear etc etc lol.. and yes full dash works :) apart from water level sensor thats it lol...

All the mounts I had to make myself, custom cross member on the front, a lot of "manufacturing" went into it to make it fit! Not for the novice this one! (Not for the novice to driver either, as u lose all power steering etc!)
