So I'm thining of breaking my car

but i aint got a clue what to do paperwork side of things

may sound daft but 1st time doin it lol

anyone advise me wht way to go about it

the cars not sorn or anything yet

When you've stripped as much as you want off it, phone a scrappy to take the shell and they will deal with the destruction paperwork for the DVLA

If your wieghing it in yourself Once its a shell load it up with as much old scrap metal you have laying around & then take it down to the scrap yard should up the price you will receive

atm theres no insurance or m.o.t

but its still taxed so do i need to sorn it...

Send your tax back for a refund.

Don't trust any scrapman to register it as scrapped with DVLA.

best thing to do paper work wise now is make up an name and address and send the log book off as sold then weigh the shell in.

the DVLA in another of their genesis moments have made it so only certain places can register it as scrap, which means if the scrap merchants misplace the paper work or what not then you are fucked.

they say that you are responsible for a car while its in your name, i've just had a sorn reminder through for a car i scrapped 3 years back. i sent the log book off as scrapped and the dvla must of lost it because i never got a confirmation letter, i wrote to them 3 time to tell them the car was scrapped and heard nothing back. on the third time i sent the letter in with another log book i was scrapping, i got the confirmation letter back for that log book but not the one i wrote the letter about.

gonna have to phone the fuckers up but i know they'll give me shit for not phoning sooner but i don't like speaking to official people on the phone
