Nothing much has changed lately!

Just been getting ready for Edition 38. Hopefully see some of you there!!

I've just had the door handles and mirror caps re painted and also the roof rails.

Also i had a big scratch down the passenger side Key'd. I have also had that repainted it looks sweet! Pics to follow!!

Just ordered all new discs and pads all round! They are all shagged one of the discs is warped ATM!

Ans I'm doing that horrible tedious job of polishing the OZ's!! Its properly the worst job ever!!

Sort of. The plugs are original and the switches are too. The actual loom i made up from scratch which also involves a relay so when the ign is off the seats are not still on!

Anyway on with the updates. After sorting out the loom for the heated seats a few other things have happened.

I changed the speakers as the OEM ones were worn out -

These are 165A1 Focal speakers they sound the nuts..

I've also added a K&N tyhoon filter. It sounds awesome and i think its made the car more responsive.

I then acquired this -

As you will see the Airbag light is NOT on. This is because the airbag has been wired up and passes the check on start up. This is how the inside looks now -

Over the winter i got hold of some RX II's which i swapped for my old RA's They do need a proper refurb at some point at the same time i gave the car a clean here is the results -

Really like this, would love to see your guide on the cruise control mod too :) my question to you would be do the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel work with your headunit?

Buttons will never work as they are all can-bus based. and there is no way i have found yet to get more wires across the slip ring. Wiring the airbag up was enough of a job!

Cruise control was very easy 4 wires into the ECU and then enable it in vag-com. It works brilliantly! i drove back from Cornwall at the weekend with it on for near on 5 Hours!

I dont update the build thread very often.

I had the MOT last week it passed after raising it up! which i have since lowered it back down again! I have also changed the whole passenger side hub! This was because it kept warping discs within 2 months this was because the wheel bearing was not fitted properly!

The OZ's are off atm too because they keep going flat which is annoying. Thats all I've done really I'm thinking about getting rid of the car and getting a 9n3 GTI

Couple of small updates..

It passed the MOT so it has at least another year of life left in it! I've also changed the passenger side hub as it kept warping the discs. This was due to the wheel bearing not being pressed into the hub square!

I've also managed to put a hairline crack in the sump! :( and the gearbox is still leaking oil. (Think its from the drive shaft seal)

But on another note I've brought an air ride kit from another fellow 6n2 Owner. It was decently priced and has bigger electronic valves etc. and the rear struts have been modified to make it go lower. (It will lay the rear axle on the floor)

Anyway so I've now got the task of fitting the kit! Which from what i can see don't look to hard. I'm going to run the air lines through the inside of the car. But 1st i need to get a chassis notch as its not going to go low at all otherwise!!!

I'm also designing my own controller to control the system remotely. As i didn't fancy paying £2000 for accuair e-level management. This involves a raspberry pi and some relays and pressure sensors.

Well i thought this needs updating as edition is coming up. A few changes have happened. I brought air ride a few weeks ago.

Me and me mate went about fitting it at the weekend. It was a very easy job to be honest. I'm not overly impressed with the Rayvern front struts they knock really bad.

This is how it started

It took a few mins to figure out the wiring and the way the air lines connect into the solenoids once this was done we were set to go!

I was going to run the boot build that come with the kit. But this would then mean i would loose my sub and amps for the stereo.... So for the moment i have modded the setup and put most of the gear in the spare wheel well..

This was before i tidied all the cables and pipes up...

We then set about running all the air lines. I decided in the end to run them through the inside of the car. So out came the interior.

One Line ran :)

We then got on and fitted the struts. It all went on the car very easy to be honest.

Well then the moment of truth come how was the front going to sit aired out! well not to bad actually here is the result.

And then we did the back here is the results here! (Bare in mind back struts have been shortend) and the wheels look cack

And the UP just for a laugh!!

Then came sorting out all the wiring and pipes inside the car. The compressor is mounted in the wheel well atm I'm a bit worried how hot it gets though..

I've also learn running plastic pipe out the compressor is also a bad idea!! and this is the mess of wires I've been dealing with!!

Anyway thats how we left it got all the insides back in and took some pics

here is the results I'm quite pleased so far!

Well after putting up with air leaks which i fixed i thought it was about time i got the tracking done and put my wheels back on!

Took it up the tyre place to get the tracking done the guy said it was so bad he had to adjust it before it registered on the tracking machine!! :(

It now drives like a dream! cant believe the difference! anyway got it home and thought its about time the wheels go on and i test the fitment with the air ride.

here was the result all that i have done so far is rolled the front arches..

I'm Pleased so far. I need to get the chassis notched as the front is sitting on the drive shaft atm which is why in the last picture it has got reverse rake!

I'm also working on my own remote control for the system using the RaspberryPi and my iPhone :)

Yes the remote control will be up and running tomorrow hopefully all the wiring is done and ready and the Raspberry Pi is up and running sending out a signal!

Yeah it's Chris's old kit. It will sit lower once the chassis has been notched and the rear arches pulled some more. I don't think it's a bad effort considering I've just bolted it on and chucked my wheels back on. Sits not to bad.
