My car (6n) is in for MOT on friday and it is on coilovers, my front wheels are about 5mm from my arches with stretched tyres.. although my actual car is not that low 15" wheels with annoyingly fat tyres stop me from grounding it.. is there a limit to how low your car can be to pass a MOT? if so, does it depend on arch gap or just car height from the floor..

As a tester its pretty hard to put a car being too low into a failure category, like a thread on hear said if it won't fit on the 4 poster it's obviously a fail it also has to fit on the break rollers for obvious reasons!

Other than that providing nothing is fouling on the suspension and you can get the lift under the car to check for play e.t.c you should be alright.

If your on coilovers winding them up a little would be a good idea just out of curtessy for the tester as it will make the mot a little easier for them to carry out.

As for the tyres I think you mentioned providing they don't foul the body work under load and the tyres and wheels are sufficiently covered by the wheel arch (although some stations are not too bothered) you will be fine!

We got a call from vosa today regarding obstructions from rear view mirrors (magic trees e.t.c) some places will fail your car for these but frankly most will either remove them or ignore them just thought it was worth a mention.

the car is not that low at all.. there are many cars lower than mine I'm just worrying about the front wheels/tyres being too close to the arch.. they will not rub in any normal circumstance (because they are quite stiff - otherwise they would) but say i drove off a curb then it would..
