I'm going to view a car 2moro but it doesnt have mot or tax?? If i do end up buying it can i drive it back or will i get into trouble with police, even though i just bought the car?

Its illegal to drive it unless you have trade plates, but I'm not 100% sure.

Trade plates only cover you for no tax. If you have it booked in for an MOT you can legally drive it there without tax. Book it in local to you, and even if it fails, you'll get it home.

Yes minor things like brakes, suspension, rotten bodywork, seatbelts, wheels & tyres etc etc !!!!

If you get caught with no tax and mot not only do you risk points and a hefty fine, but also having the vehicle seized and crushed, so get it trailored home, go over it for mot items and fix if required, then phone your local mot station and book it in for the test, then you can legally drive it there if you have insurance on it! then if it passes get it taxed and then enjoy driving it!!

Trade plates are road tax for motor trade purposes only. They also say "I have insurance for what I'm doing" but are not insurance in their own right. Likewise, they don't excempt you from MOT, though there are 3 or 4 various "good excuses" for driving on trade plates with no MOT ("I am going to an MOT station and have paperwork to substantiate" that had being the root of most of them).

When it comes to anything that doesn't smell right to a passing plod, the phrase is "Red on white, stop on sight". Car doesn't look like the sort of thing a garage would deal in any more; car doesn't look like the sort of thing that would be coverred by plater's insurance; car being moved at a strange time for motor trade; journey doesn't appear to be related to motor trade are just a few.
