Decided to screw the idea above and roll the arches and go lower :p

Got abit carried away with the arch roller and now need wider wheels to fill them haha took my helpers out aswell and lowered the whole lot about 30mm but now my driveshaft is catching on my chassis :/ so don't know what to do. Don't know if I want a notch or not

  • "Copy"? Its putting wheels on a car not sitting an exam. I'm sure hundreds of people might have them on this car... You put them on for personal preference mate.

Cheers man! Got nothing on yours though, I have always loved g60 steels especially banded sets so I love your wheels more than mine :p I'll try and get some photos soon before she goes into winter

  good man!

You could just use spacers to get them into the arches a little bit?

And sounds like you need a notch unless you just raise it up a little bit, up to you

Pictures :)

I'll get pictures tomorrow and I think I'm gonna raise it up cause I'm 99% sure it running on bump stops even though I cut them in half :( so I'll raise it up 10mm and see what happens. Also I had someone email me the other day about buying my wheels so probably will sell them. Anyone seen any nice 15x8 wheels? ;)

i used to be able to run the front of mine that low, but now i cant haha, scrubs like mad, rides gash and its not necessary, i dont care if people dont lick my arse for not being low haha.

looks good though man!

do you not get mad scrubbage where the arch meets the rear bumper?

also are they 185/45?

  • Author

Tell me about it, more noises are appearing by the day :/ i do like it but sometimes wish it was back how it was with no noises or problems, but where's the fun in that?

It scrubs on the back where the bumper meets the body and that's it. I've raised the front up to how it used to be cause I need a notch :/ and yea 185/45

yeah true, but when i go hard into corners and its scraping and banging id prefer it not too haha.

also that 5mm extra room either side of the tyres will probably make a big difference, mine only just catch ! and I'm running 5mm spacers on the rear which dont help haha :p

they're not wide enough are they? dont fill the arches out when low i dont think, I'm bored of mine now haha.

can you get 185's which aint nankang?

  • Author

I like my nankangs, grip well in the dry and like average tires in the wet. And yea I wish they did 175/45's they would be perfect and I think more companies are doing 185/45's now. Cause I've rolled the arches so much I need wider wheels to fill them out. Need some 8's

how about 175/50, also equals standard circumferance :)

  • Author

Nah too high, looked into it though, or 185/40's they'd be perfect. Thinking about 8" bbs rs reps with these tires on should fit nicely

Yeah I'm gonna go for Rota Grid V's next, but the 8j's have 0 offset I think so would be a nightmare to run!

Realllyyyy? I really like them but the 0et put me off. I just don't think they'll fit. I want something 8j 15-20et

Yeah I'm gonna get 7's & space :)

Mine with Rota grids one of the first set in the uk but couldnt handle the amount of poke and ridiculous 165/50's there just not safe for Ragging around>>

Anyone heard of people putting mk3 golf vr6 coilovers on polos? Thinking of putting some on the back

Don't think they will fit as the strut is quite a bit longer in the mk3 compared to the polo

Just the spring then?

This is looking great now, those last few photos are awesome :)

Wish I didn't roll the rear arches as much as I did :/ but I'm happy with the fronts :) also raised it back up so it's the same height as yours as I get my drive shaft catching on corners or pot holes haha. Need some wider wheels to fill the arches out :/ but I like my Ronals. Also I want to knotch the chassis but I don't know if it's legal and will pass an mot hmmmmmmm

Really nice 6n man. I'm in the same situation I want lower and notch is next on the list. My polos just been through an mot so I was thinking notch it now and next time around it'll be less noticeable. Coilies right down and looking at mk3 lowering top caps.
