6n g60 setup questions

Featured Replies

I'm doing a bigger brake setup on my 6n valver these are the parts i have :-

vr6 carriers

vr6 callipers

16v setup already on the car

basically from I've gathered is that i can keep my 16v callipers and just put the vr6 carrier in place which will give me the 280mm.

but i heard i will have to shave 2mm of slider pins of the 16v callipers? if this is true could i not just buy g60 slider pins and put them into the 16v callipers instead to give me the extra 2mm clearance for the g60 discs?

and will 15" wheels fit over a 280mm setup?

cheers matt

dont mean to patronise but you haven't mentioned bigger discs? you'll be needing those!

the popular 16v mod is g60 carriers and discs which take you to 280mm on the standard calipers, and do fit under 15's. Vr6's came with 280mm discs but late model golfs also had 288mm discs, not sure exactly when the change happened. vr6 discs are obviously 5 bolt as well so you couldn't fit them without new hubs and wheels or adapters. you dont need to modify the slider bolts for g60 brakes, the calipers on the g60 and the 16v are the same. as for the vr6 I'm not 100% sure.

I'd go for the g60 setup if i were you, very simple and effective.

hope that helps mate
