£400 at 19 on a golf gti seems ludicrously cheap though, was that as a named driver or a policy on your own?

but yes insurance has gone up LOADS the last two years. Not really sure what it's got to do with the government as someone else suggested above, insurance companies are private companies charging what they want.

what about a mk3 polo?

tell me about it

So much more refined than Polo's I've had, and i got it for a bargin :p

Could have probably found a cheaper insurer, but i swaped my policy from the polo to the FTO so i didnt have to pay a massive Deposit.

That makes the £2000 I paid to insure a Nissan 300ZX V6 twin turbo at 20 with 0 NCB, 2 years driving seem very reasonable

thats because its a datsun, so it mean lower premiums

For all very lucky lol

I paid £2950 on a mk 2 bread van. Gd area but I'm 18 and it's my first car:(

Yet it's only £1000 on a mk 2 golf 1.3 on a classic policy

No other than my first car I've always had my own insurance. I'm a girl, good postcode and that was 6 years ago.

Anyway, I've decided not to get another car just yet until I've settled in to my new job and then the price of insurance won't matter.

I USED TO BE INDECISIVE.....BUT NOW I'M NOT SO SURE.

fully comp, No no claims. 500 quid excess. 710 a year on a 3.2L TT.

3 points too but there nearly 5 years old now

Fully comp £500 excess, 4 years no claims, £50 more, 400cc less, mind you I think I'm a few years younger :p

Keeping it 'polo' my old 6n was pretty reasonable as a runaround, 350 a year full comp, 3yrs ncb 20yrs old

 i'm 22 you cheeky mare make me sound a rate old bastard lol

my polo was cheap too tbh. 525 on a 6n2 GTi with all my mods declared.

age is a big one tbh. Sp30 the points i have dont affect it that much because everyones got them lol.

That was a cheap quote for me. Most were over 3k and actually went up if I added my mum as a named drive who has 10 years NCB

My boss did a quote for her 19 year old son who's just passed his test. For a shed of a 1.2 clio it was £5000....

Well I'm 20 for another couple of weeks so my statement was basically correct :-p

Thats a lot!

I'm 750 a year on mines, all mods declared, all in my own name and I wrote my mums focus off when i was 17.

I started this policy when i was 18 incase your wondering :p .

That's quite a big excess - but I guess worth it to balance what'd otherwise be a massive premium!

My missus has just found that her insurance has gone up by about 25% this year, on a standard car. The changes in law preventing insurers from discriminating on gender haven't helped, but the biggest factor at play is that 2010 was a fucking terrible year for insurers with most of the big ones losing millions!

Low interest rates/weak economy haven't helped them either, all those people that pay up front for a year would mean they could make a decent return on investing the cash from your premium. They don't do so well on that at the moment, so end up charging more.

WTF u lucky sod lol

that was me alone TPFT left in a communal car park in a B rated area, i then bought a 6n2 and paid 50% more with 1 years NCB , i hope it goes back down this year

I dont feel as bad now, on my first years driving, 23 and paying 2100 on my 1ltr mk3 TPFT when i asked for the fully comp quote he came back with a figure of 6K i nearly died!

Hopefully come Augusts renewal it will drop a little!!

Would it be showing off if I said that my insurance on my 1.3 bready is less than £750? (18, no NCD)

Yeah, it'd be nicer if it was lower but it does make a massive difference to the premium, I use to have the mentality with the polo at least that if I stacked it I wouldn't claim for it as the value of the car itself was so little, though obviously things change if another party was involved etc etc. Just hope I won't have to make a claim.. *touch wood*

At 25, driving since 2003, 0 points (fuck knows how), 0 claims

Polo 1.3 Bike Carbed, lowered etc £350

Saab 9000 2.3T Stage 3 £250

Passat 1.8 20v N/A (Standard) £190

Edited by Cymro

G40 conversion, all mods declared. 4k a year mileage. With fully comp trackday on-track cover and full breakdown cover.

£350 Fully Comp.

i pay £500 fully comp, all mods listed. 1.8 20vt converted 9n. 250 xs. like for like cover.

not too bad really.

Yea, youd be practically inviting everyone else to come round and twoc it
