Air filter

Featured Replies

I'm looking to fit a cone filter to my Mk 4 polo 1l but i'm kind of new to all of this but figured this is the best way to learn, i know i need to take out the air box to put it where that is but there is something attached to the air box (circled in the picture), and i've got no clue what it is and i cant find it anywhere in my Haynes manual can anybody tell me what it is and what i should do with it?

Thats the valve that allows warm air from the exhaust manifold into the air filter, it helps with starting and better idling on colder days

ah okay then suppose thats quite important then, what would you recommend to do?

For most of the year you will not have any problems, just if we have another cold winter, I'd refit the system as it is now, just to reduce the possibility of starting and idling problems when it's cold.
