insured on one car but what about the other

Featured Replies

so I'm currently fully comp on the polo coupe I'm driving right now and have spent a hell of alot of cash on it so was looking to buy another one but just keep it standard and use it as a run about to work and back so save the wearing on the one if spent money on.

do i need to insure both cars under my policy or can i still have my normal insurance on the first car and drive the other. my concern would be that i need to be able to get road tax for both vehicles even thou I'm not driving the first car that much i still need to be able to keep it on road and take it to shows , weekend cruzin etc etc

many thanks

You will need to insure both cars, but loads of insurers can cover two cars under the same policy. It's just a case of calling your insurer and asking how much it would be to add the second car. Of course you could always get different companies for each car, as you say one is heavily modified, it might be better to find a specialist insurer for that one and a run of the mill company for the other. Either way, it'll involve a bit of phoning around or interweb searching for quotes to find the best deal.

You need to take out insurance on the second car as your current policy will not cover it automatically. Speak to your current insurers and they might do you a discount for insuring 2 cars with them.
